No offence to the kid, but does not have a point of difference which makes me think he'll make it.

Given the amount of research done by recruiting teams, it is a little difficult to think clubs wouldn’t be over his upside. Might be an undisclosed issue or two holding things back.

I'd like Jiath personally. Our half back line is sneaky old and generally across the board we don't have a lot of explosiveness or x-factor so between Jiath and Moir we will have taken a couple steps to provide plenty of it.

And Gold Coast have a stack of picks left that they're not going to use, they'll be trying to get something next year for them.

Moir to me looks like the medium forward that's been the missing piece to our forward line for years. Creative in the air and on the ground with some elite skill and athleticism.

West Coast at that opening pick has been linked to Peel Thunder ruck Mitch Edwards, who was overlooked by the likes of North Melbourne, Collingwood, St Kildaand Carlton. The latter two clubs, though, would consider Edwards if he slipped through on Tuesday night as they hold Picks 33 and 34 respectively.

But both the Saints and Blues, as well as West Coast, are also considering 194cm rebounding defender Arie Schoenmaker, who’s regarded as one of the best kickers in the draft class. Schoenmaker, like Edwards, had late first-round interest, but was still on the board on Monday night.

Carlton (Pick 34) has also been linked to outside runners. Roberts will be strongly considered if he’s still on the board, while speedy yet composed Dandenong Stingrays midfielder Cooper Simpson also has interest from the Blues. Matt Carroll (Sandringham Dragons) and Billy Wilson (Dandenong Stingrays) have also been linked to Carlton.

I've got a healthy suspicious streak too. But i think it's still early in the draft really. Take out all the Academy and F/S picks and only 26 kids will be taken before Simpson if we grab him at 34. And only a bare handful of onballers. It will actually be a show of confidence if he's taken so early i reckon, not a head scratcher why he slipped so far.

Seemingly like all Carlton fans here, i've warmed to him. Has the pace and kicking we need in a mid. Even when Cerra and Walsh are leading the mids in 5 years time, Simpsons game would be a good mix to theirs.

Thing that no-one picks up/sees about Cooper is that he’s no shrinking violet. Loud by voice and actions on the field. He’s a leader. Made DeMattia look poor by comparison in the game I watched and he was co-captain.

His team mate Ben Hopkins (who was the reason I was able to see Cooper play) would be an excellent rookie option too. Kade Simpson

esq. Runs all day and has excellent skills. Had a shit 2km time because he mis-paced himself with a tight hammy. Talk has him beating Tarkyn O’Leary mid-season. Great kid and family too. Gun basketballer and captained Stingrays a few games.

Only worry is St. Kilda ahead of us. They love the Dandenong graduates. Hoping they go a tall like Ollie Murphy.

On Simpson I looked at a few articles about who the next likely 10 players to get picked and Simpson isn’t mentioned at all. So are we overvaluing him on here? But we do seem linked to him in which case could we do a pick trade (eg a future third) and move down a little and grab him around pick 40 instead?

Not really worried about how the media value him. IMHO he suits exactly what we need and will be drafted early this evening. I would rather we just take the player we want instead of trying to slide down to grab points for next year. If we slide down too far he will be gone.

Cooper is a gun and a great kid. The media have almost no idea on how tonight will play out. It’s just opinion based and the media generally have NFI. But if I want him u better get in b4 the Freo pick.
