Listening to 'Mini Monk' on the PodPod, who finished top 250 in all three formats last year, including 2nd in FakeDT.

He was talking about defenders with Holmsey at one point and they were discussing Young and Daicos.

Mini Monk said, and i quote, "i think you can run them both at D3 and D4".

Bro.. Young is currently my D1.
Wtf? Is he running Dangerfield at M1? 🤣

What do you see him averaging ?
To be honest I think he goes around the same. Reasons to start him though;
1) Perfect VC loop candidate
2) Mid potential and showed a very high ceiling there
3) Is far and away the best defender available to us. Sometimes it's easier starting these types even if you think they have no growth because trying to actually get them in isn't the easiest

Just looking at his price fluctuation last year, if he does something like that this year then he won't drop much in price. I also find it hard to get to guys like him when they can so easily have a spike game which bumps their price up quicker than you anticipate

Would take it with a grain of salt. Everyone has different opinions and no one’s word is gospel. I’m pretty sure last year was the first season he’d finished in the top 1k for any format - albeit he had a cracking season

I was, but if he goes back to half back i'm not as keen on him. Plus Salem struggling with Thyroid ruined by UBER + 3 MID Pricer set up that I had. Currently have two under priced premiums, a midpricer and three rookies in defence but I don't like it. Have bulked up the midfield in response (effectively Doch v Steele) but still flirting with it.

Fair points

My reasons at this stage for skipping on Doch
1. Seems like he will be required down back, putting him priced at value if not slightly over-priced.
2. The opportunity cost for me with Doch would be not getting Steele at M1. Between these two players I think Steele averages more and is a better captain option (may not have as many VC opportunities as Doch does early on).
3. I currently have Angus Brayshaw at D1 who in the right role I think goes at 100. If Doch goes 110 (which I think is his range), then there is 10 points difference between the two, and a cost increase of 100k. Per the magic number, 10 points is worth about 85k.
4. We have additional trades this year, so the stress of upgrading is going to be less than it usually was.

I trust Docherty's role moreso than the utility Brayshaw

Markov if he gets picked up, will play Zilliams role .....irrespective of this, Doch's role down back last year didn't adversely impact his scoring

Besides ....I'd argue Zilliams role was very different to Docherty's

With Salem going down, isn't that more likely to impact Brayshaw ?

Good points.

Not totally sold on Brayshaw at some point, and may ultimately end up with Doch at D1 after pre-season and clarification on where he might be playing.

Docherty is the only player I haven't rotated thru my side .....the rest of the DEF are playing musical chairs

With you 100%. He should be an absolute Keeper as a worst case scenario. Everyone carries injury risk, but he's tough as 23 games showed last season. He's also the heart of the team, they look for him more than any other player bar Walsh I reckon - and I hate Carlton!:tearsofjoy:

What if I told you the coach wants to play a heavy kick mark gameplan? And he's taking all kick outs for us

(With apologies to TedDougChris for the stolen gif)

I'll need to see this to believe it. Bring on the scratchies.
Yeah there has to be value between him Redman and McGrath someone is going to get a lot of ball as we are thumped most week

Then I'm hoping the Tiges play the Bombers twice;)

Jack Ziebell has mentioned today that he’ll make the move back to defence this season. He’s done his best scoring there so could be worth a crack

Yeah it’s definitely interesting. I daresay Clarkson won’t allow the cheap garbage he was racking up down there a couple of seasons ago but the ball will still be down there an awful lot so the move would increase his scoring nonetheless

Frustratingly though he is FWD only becuase I would have put him at D3 in the Yeo/Salem spot
