It seems to happen to me every year in a first build actually.Teach me how? I’m usually $400k over
It seems to happen to me every year in a first build actually.
Trying to pick value in every pick almost always leads me to have a pile of cash leftover then going back through and upgrading.
But I'm almost certainly too mid pricey to begin with.
I also like the look of 7 rooks on field as a structure D=2, M=3, F=2. Total = 7.
Last years winner had such a vanilla or obvious round 1 team (in hindsight of course - but all players he picked were certainly in the mix with my side).
Then we over think things like, oh he's too old, or he's injury prone, or maybe his role won't be good etc etc.
Yeo, Bowes, Worpel, Cunnington, Mclean. - They're all in my first build and if they're named round 1 I can't see them leaving?
Sheed is an absolute gift priced in the 60sSurprised Sheed isn't in there as well?
I created a spreadsheet of 'players with upside' which consisted of 57 players that could all be considered worth picking and making cash - and Sheed was one of them that I had in my first 22 - such is his output in the past and his relative youth amongst the more senior guys at WC
I must admit I had every intent of picking Sheed but it didn't happen for some reason.Surprised Sheed isn't in there as well?

Errol Gulden and Will Brodie are sneaky outsiders too that are worth a look.Given I've brought it up, might as well share the 55 players I have listed - and the alt. risky team I created using a team that's more 'midprice madness'.
Have listed their position, price and averages, and will list their 'priced at' amount along with more detailed descriptions when I get a chance. Also have a 22 that I'll be using as my alt side, just for fun

Sheed a lot more cemented in his spot than Worpel. Worpel might not get a game next year, who knows.I must admit I had every intent of picking Sheed but it didn't happen for some reason.
I think his price point may end up being a bit too awekward.
Almost $600k.
I'd have Worpel at $463k picked ahead of Sheed atleast for the moment. But picking both becomes difficult.

If Mitchell cared about mature bodies he wouldn't have shipped off OMeara and Mitchell and if he thought Worpel was in his plans, he would have played him more and in more favourable roles last year. I am not high on Worpel at all this year - and this is coming from someone who has him in Dynasty so i really need him to do well.Yeah fair call. Certainly a wait and see.
Sam Mitchell obviously doesn't rate him too highly to not have him in the engine room last year.
But with a lack of other mature bodies he shouldn't really have a choice this year.
Pick all West Coast players
Pretty sure he's just a rangaI'm bullish on Richards. Very talented player and finished the year (except that one final) on fire.
Pretty sure he's just a ranga
Well played
Am really considering going left field with full mid-price madness this year and have a team with only 1 or 2 rookies on field.Im gonna start one of these teams idc
I'm definately going to do it, 2021 finished 256 getting lucky. Thought i was a god in 2022 doing it properly and failed miserably, I'm genuinely playing for fun in 2023 with my midfield most likely my keeper league midfielders (Noah, Baz, Cerra) + LDU, Green, Sheed in the midfield. Young & Daicos D1/D2 most likely.Am really considering going left field with full mid-price madness this year and have a team with only 1 or 2 rookies on field.
Every year I end up with the same Guns/Rookies + a couple of mid-pricers team, and usually end up around 500th every year. Tempted to try something different, could be a bit of fun.
I am certainly going to be taking much more of a fun over serious approach with Fantasy this year, especially as I might be moving overseas for work mid-year so the chances of me paying too much attention to my side over that period would be low.I'm definately going to do it, 2021 finished 256 getting lucky. By about round 12 when 3/4 of the midpricers have failed and your cash gen is over you'll give upOne of the first things I try and do is to see if I can get a team with 0 rookies on field
This is what I came up with
Dawson, Salem, Yeo, Bowes, Haynes, Coffield (Dean, Wilmot)
Steele, T.Mitchell, Warner, Dangerfield, Sheed, Z.Jones, Duursma, Worpel (Johnson, Chesser)
English, Ratugolea (Ryan)
Taranto, D.Martin, Cunnington, Wingard, Thomas, McLean (Greene, Co.Warner)
(McAsey)
13k leftover
Am not usually one for "second teams", but I'd be tempted to run something like above as a season long experiment.
Just had a play around with the team planner, seems pretty straight forward to get something like:
DEF: Dawson, Brayshaw, Yeo, McKenna, Ginbey, Chesser (Rook, Rook)
MID: Miller, Kelly, Mitchell, Parish, LDU, Ashcroft, McKenzie, Rook (Rook, Rook)
RUC: English, Marshall (Rook)
FWD: Dunkley, Coniglio, Taranto, Rozee, Pedlar, Sinn (Rook, Rook)
Send him my way for peanuts pleaseIf Mitchell cared about mature bodies he wouldn't have shipped off OMeara and Mitchell and if he thought Worpel was in his plans, he would have played him more and in more favourable roles last year.
