Pretty good 1st side

My question, and it's not aimed at you, but a general comment .....is Dunkley the 2nd or 3rd best scoring player in peoples sides?

I've seen a few, where he's the 2nd highest priced ......to me Dunkley's too highly priced, but that's just my opinion ....when my most expensive MID is $50K cheaper

He'll be fine mate. Short was a victim of us being stacked for defenders while being thin through the middle. The exact reason why we got Taranto funnily enough

Couldn't help but tinker through the day but managed to get down to $0 remaining and i think its a sign that i am happy for now! Just a random 200K player as the utility that i have cut off. Rookies subject to change of course.

What’s your reasoning behind thinking that with Dunks? Personally I think the opposite. To me he has upside because Bevo loved to throw him around the place at the dogs. I think at Brisbane he plays pure mid and basically becomes Neale’s sidekick. Can see Berry and mccluggage both spending slightly more time on the wing because of this meaning mccluggage potentially sees a dip this year.

Any opinions/input on this team so far? Still not sure on Docherty and Taranto, could go abit higher in the mids. All though i think Sheed will be nice, Worpel abit iffy at this point.

Ah yep should’ve guessed that. He seems a no brainer this year

That’s fair enough. Certainly is a heap of value there. It’s hard leaving out Dunks though when in all likelihood he finishes the season as F1. Almost easier to start with those types as it saves the huge hassle of trading him in

Re Dunks, the guy just went 109 being screwed for most of the year. If he steps in as Neale's right hand man it really wouldn't shock me if he went 120 this season and became the highest averaging player (or close to) outright. The move to Brissy was the best thing that's ever happened to him. The knock on benefit to Macrae at his cheapest ever starting price is icing on the cake

Last year Macrae actually went less than his 2nd season.. 103 v 104. Hard to ignore the 4 years prior: 122, 116, 113 (adjusted) 116

Each of those years included stints of games sulking on the wing, so even if he gets partly Bevo'd instead of completely Bevo'd he could be 10-20 points unders priced at 103.

Ruc: Marshall, DC (Moyle)
Fwd: Dunkley, Coniglio, Taranto, Rozee, Mclean, Richards (Sinn, Rookie)

I’ll probably end up culling one of Cerra/LDU to bolster the backline but it’s a start for now

Some decent sides in here.
Generally for pre season teams, I count the number of potential keepers (top 10 def/fwd and 100+ AVG mid or close to it)

Often a Rd 1 team will have 11.
Some here are up to 14 all going well for some iffy or returning players.

• Dunkley at M1 - as others have noted, should be close to #1 overall scorer this year and a great C option. Allows me to shift him FWD if another must-have rookie/cheap mid-price mid emerges, by trading out one of my F4-6 guys.
• Fading Taranto to go with Moore instead. We'll see how that goes.
• Praying for a North/WCE shoot out in R1 with Sheezel and Allen cashing in.
• Lot of uncertainty in defence outside of Docherty. Could be a move to start multiple value picks w/ upside until a clear top 6 emerge.
• Cameron at R2 gives ability to move him FWD if a better R2 emerges (e.g. one of Gawn/Grundy goes down and the other becomes a must have). Not sure English's price is going anywhere.
• Would love Himmelberg to be an option if playing DEF pre-season, replacing one of Salem, Daicos or Young. Gives so much flexibility w/ DEF/FWD DPP.

The enthusiasm comes from a) his price and b) his Finals performance last year

On top of what Wayno said, McLean was once a premo (see below), granted a long time ago. Pretty sure in those 17/18 years he played a high half forward role floating through the middle. Not too far off what Smith played last year. The thinking is that Smith/Bont spend more time in the middle thus opening a spot for someone like McLean

So does this make starting with someone like an Anderson/Stewart more valuable to help with the following two bye weeks? Or does it make them a no brainer to trade in at the time? Brain clearly still isn't working from xmas new year period

Hawks board seem to think they'll play both Meek and Reeves in the same team but still looks as though it's pretty up in the air
