AFLW 2024 - Round 10 - Chat, game threads, injury lists, team lineups and more.
Once upon a time he was actually a similar fantasy player to Dunkley and arguably the better player in the early days.i don't get the buzz around McLean played 5 games in 2 seasons, yeah with Dunkley gone could create some time in the midfield but remember the Bont and Bailey Smith we’re sometimes starting the game up in the forward line. With liba trealor Macrae Bailey smith and the bont All fighting for time in the middle I don’t see McLean getting to many cba‘s.
I think it gives you a distinct benefit to starting one or two of them. You'll likely have almost 24-26 players to choose from in that scenario (as an example no Anderson or Stewart and a couple of dead rooks or injures) so you'll have 22 on field easily and four of those scores will drop off anyway as it cuts down to 18. Then in the other three main bye rounds, you'll have two extra premiums each week.So does this make starting with someone like an Anderson/Stewart more valuable to help with the following two bye weeks? Or does it make them a no brainer to trade in at the time? Brain clearly still isn't working from xmas new year period
I think he plays round 1 but think Reeves is our number 1 ruck. The question is can he have enough of an impact up forward (when not in the ruck) to score well and also justify playing 2 ruckmen and remaining in the best 22?no love for the big meek? is he going to have competition for no1 ruck at the hawks?
Yeah that was my thinking. I actually think this brings Anderson right into play this year over someone like Green/Warner who I had penciled inI think it gives you a distinct benefit to starting one or two of them. In contrast, if you wait till after their bye, you're still only going to have 22 players on field. While two of them will likely be premiums that aren't on the GC/Geel bye, there's potentially very little upside that you'll have against the teams that have a couple of premiums on byes given its best 18 only. Then during the other three weeks you'll be trying to make up two more premium slots.
I'm not currently going out of my way to target those players, but typing it all out like that, it may almost be a necessity.

Combination of being priced at 400k, lack of reliable cheap forward options, and the fact he's averaged 95 before with the right role. Don't see him getting CBA's but should be further up the ground more this year. Started him that year from memory and was great. Was really building before injuries and Bevo struckI remember having McLean when he had an absolute purple patch. IIRC, he had some uber premo scores over a few weeks.
Yeah I've grabbed Touk for this reason too. Stewart burned me last year so trying to get over that PTSD and I might grab him tooThat's my reasoning for having Touk Touk above other Premos

Was going to post Steele v Miller in the x v y v x thread this morning. Steele definitely tempting and can always upgrade someone to Miller later for the purpose of his byeGetting Keen on Steele at M1.. love his run to start the season and he honestly looked disinterested last year and still knocked out a good average.
Touk for the reasons above makes sense too.. but Steele/Macrae as a 1/2 punch will be sitting there until games i think.
Yeah I have this right now. Want Touk but for the cash saved to Macrae is decent!Getting Keen on Steele at M1.. love his run to start the season and he honestly looked disinterested last year and still knocked out a good average.

You’re rooted if sulky Macrae starts on a wingNot averse to the all value mid setup with Macrae, Titch, LDU, Warner, Green, Sheed
If you look back at all the winners they usually started by avoiding the highest priced guys and nailing a set up like that and. I've been hesitant before but this year looks prime to try it.
Would probably go Dunks captain either way. Going to be a monster this yearYou’re rooted if sulky Macrae starts on a wing
Would you go Dunks in the fwds as captain?
I reckon if I picked 3 breakout candidates like that I would miss them all.Not averse to the all value mid setup with Macrae, Titch, LDU, Warner, Green, Sheed

This is pretty much exactly what I'm doing for now. Like I said not averse to the risk/reward of having them all but more likely to go into the season with 1 or 2 as opposed to 3I reckon if I picked 3 breakout candidates like that I would miss them all.
I feel it's a little risky punting on all 3 of LDU, Warner and Green. I like them as picks and as players but if they're not top 8 mids you're kind of in no man's land with little cash gen.
Personally, I'd rather take a punt on a few underpriced premos, there's no shortage of them this year. I think there's enough value this year without needing to nail a breakout candidate.
You can easily fit in two underpriced premos and a breakout candidate which feels a far safer play.
I'm currently looking at:
Miller, Crae, Titch, Cerra, Sheed, Ashcroft, Mackenzie, Phillips.
Added bonus is having my first 3 mids names starting with M just sounds nice. Might have to make Mills my first upgrade target.
If he is their R1 then lock and load I reckonCould xerri be a sneaky value ruck pick this season? Had some good scores last year just depends on goldy’s role I guess

Apparently according to the Roos track watcher, he doesn't look up to it and Goldy had his measure. A watch, but wouldn't be banking on it.
What was far more interesting though, was T. Thomas being used as the prime distributor off half back in match sim. Apparently looks good in the role, and could take over from Hall as he tends to butcher it a lot. At 475K could really pay off
