Think I’m done with my team until we get some games now. Only made one change in the last week and a bit and that’s been Salem down to Richards. Would still prefer Salem but given his injury/health concerns I felt that forced my hand. The most stable my sides been so I must be happy enough with it right?

Only other player I’m unsure about is the Poo as it sounds like he may not be fit/ready for round 1 but there’s options to easily switch him.

Time to bring on some games!

Starting to really gravitate towards Haynes as that mid range pick I've been looking for. Priced at 59, went at 86 in his last 3 and 75 in his last 5. Ceiling of 123 last year, and averaged 88 in 2020 and a safe 70-79 the past 6 years (not including last year. Apparently back to full fitness, put weight back on and dominating off half back in that Himmelberg 3rd tall role that he made his own in 2019 and 2020).

Have Cowan and Weddle on the bench as insurance/solid bench options who could play, plus 22K, so 130K if I need to get to a Bowes or Richards...but all in all, liking this build. Green showing his wares has made it easier to select him in that M3 spot, shift Cogs forward and then (sorry WayneO) get rid of Milera on balance. Ginbey can be shifted into the midfield and Weddle on field with Wilmot taking his place, if Mackenzie doesn't play - so a lot of flexibility with rooks and on field players.

Between two of Hunt, McLean and Milera, and Mackenzie and Weddle for those last three spots, but a lot of those mid priced breakout pieces starting to fall into place, IMO. Only 5 spots on field that are changing frequently, with 17 other spots pretty consistent and locked in - so feeling pretty steady with the 'core' of my side, at this point.

This is more on the SC side but I’m also considering Haynes too. Him returning to defence and him being a lot cheaper makes him worth a punt and it balances out my team too.

There’s quite a few players returning to previous roles this season which opens up the options massively.

Exactly. There's not that many options in that 400-600K bracket, so Haynes being priced at under 60 but being capable of averaging close to 90, is a low risk/high reward pick - which I love. He's also Best 22 and his role is solid, so you know what you'll get every week if he's fit and healthy. Love Bowes as a pick, but he's nowhere near as solid in a lot of the above areas, and he costs another 85K on Haynes. Not to mention, all of those options bar Yeo, between 400 and 700K, are really risky, so taking one of the cheapest - leaves you a lot more room for error, IMO.

I think this is a huge ask for Haynes to go close to 90. I was surprised when I was looking at him the other week but he’s never even averaged 80 in his career (outside of the Covid impacted year). Even worse, he’s only gone over 75 once in his career to.

At nearly 31, I don’t think he’s close to worth taking a punt on IMO.

Agreed - I get he is good potential value - but we all know one injury and he will be back playing as a lockdown defender and scoring 28.

Imo Ziebell a much better option. Had him for the last week or 2 and his ownership has started steadily increasing. If Hall isn’t back for Rd1 it makes the decision easier

I don’t think I can cope with cheering for Ziebell - so he’s a no from me !!

Starting to get back into it now...

Said last year I wouldn't pick a GWS spud again and now I'm starting with 3 of them, 1 at M1....asking for trouble.

Rookies I don't have much clue, just placeholders at the moment (also Faulkhead for the name)

I think starting all of Worpel, McLean and Milera is just one spud too many. It's hard to expect all of them to be decent. Hopefully a random rookie pops up so I can downgrade one of them and upgrade another to a better premo

You know of course about Salem's Thyroid condition .....has taken him out of PS training

Ziebell listed as a fwd sadly - there's plenty of options up at that end of the ground for our starting teams.

Agreed. If you start 3-4 under priced premo’s , and one doesn’t have the right role,, it’s an easy downgrade to Ziebell if he’s flying.

Harder/riskier to start with him and go up to a butter/rozzee/Cameron etc

By the same token if you start additional mid-pricers then by assumption you are going to have less rookies in your side.

If one of your mid-pricers fails, then you can downgrade to the rookie you missed out on and then either bank the cash or use it to upgrade another mid-pricer to those players you mentioned.
