The difference for me though is taking 70k into next week or taking 230k into next week. The latter pretty much guarantees a Pedlar upgrade (which would mean 2 rookies on ground). The former probably means a cheap upgrade for Worpel/Hunt.
You always prefer to take the extra coin into next weeks trades .....both players aren't keepers, so on that basis choose Ratkins + $230K

Oh, hope not. Haven't watched Freo for two games (both good by Young) as I was so sick of watching him float and not attack the oppo. Has he turned the corner?
Yeah, something has changed, bloke is sprinting to get a handpass receive at every opportunity possible

was quite exciting to watch him just take off at the game and seeing Connor Macdonald trying to keep up

Think I'm going to hold off on Stewart this week at this stage and go early on Mills. Leaves me with just Cincotta, Ashcroft and Sheezel on field.. so 2 rookies? Happy to start Cincotta this week with no Newman, and shift him off field for Stewart next week instead. Think Stewart with everything surrounding this week may not have a good game, so every chance to drop a bit more $$.

Leaves $120k in the bank too so should make Chayce to Stewart next week pretty comfortable and means I could even probably get Greene downgraded to do it, even with more coin dropped.

Will need to fix up Ridley, and probably Ladhams.
Happy to hold 3 midpricers and 3 "rooks" on field: JJ, Cincotta, Ashcroft, Atkins, Hollands, Sheezel. Honestly not worried about any of those rookies for now.

Could get:
1. Gawn and Fiorini (fielding Hollands)
2. Mills and Fiorini (fielding Samson Ryan)

Would think that Gawn should go great against the Hawks, but not many big scores recently from opposition ruckmen!

Do we have to go Drury?

RD pick, so a good but not top tier junior. Averaged 65 in the VFL playing half back/half forward mix, and playing forward for the AFL side too.

This year SFs at North seem to score absolute junk. Stephenson averaging 54 playing closer to home than ever (and for him, relatively well). Curtis, a very talented footballer, averaging 35. Zurhaar 69, but a lot of that has been from his midfield pinch hitting. Turner 40. Powell 60, and like Zurhaar, midfield pinch hitting.

So doesn't feel unreasonable that a less experienced & pedigreed player in that spot might go even less - I'm talking 25-40 range. And given JVR's annoying with how little cash he's generated from his 40-45 scores, would it be better to not downgrade to a rookie as opposed to downgrading to one who, if he even gets 5-6 games, may well max out at 310k or so, 90k more than he is now?

You don't have to pick Drury but he's the obvious target who shouldn't lose his spot. We need rookies over the byes and I think he's the safest bet.

He was playing a Chandler type role where he pushes up the wing to get involved then pedals back to the half forward line.

I don't see him avging near 70 like Chandler because of the age gap but I see a 50 avg. Spike games of 70ish with some goals and he will drop some stinkers of 30-40. Also the fact we don't see other obvious rookie options on the horizon makes him more valuable

Will he burn you if you avoid him? Unlikely.

I mean sure, but how else are you going to make money and net upgrade your side.

I don't think anyone is advocating putting Drury on field, but he's the best option that we have this week (pending team announcements). He works up the ground a bit, and I reckon is good for a 45-50 average.

Interestingly Gawn has a BE of 93, and the best a ruck has scored against Hawks combo of Meek AND Reeves is a 99 by English. Reeves on his own did a couple of nice scores, but still no oppo (Darcy, Draper/Phillips, Goldy, Ladhams, Stanley/Blic, Flynn, ROB,) went 90's plus other than English. I think Gawn monsters Meek, but Reeves is a different one again. Could wait a week maybe.

Newman free to play this week btw

Trades for this week (pending teams) so far looking at either

Pedlar and Chandler to Drury and Mills +20k

OR

Greene and W.Phillips to Ratkins and Drury +170k

As a Swans supporter, what do you think Mills role looks llke this week?

I think the full time midfield role is back
He copped alot of criticism for that move to Hawkins, also we are getting defenders back, Melican is also back from injury if they need a FB type player.

Been getting smashed in midfield with the younger crop, so getting the bigger bodies in Parker and Mills is required, as shown in thier Cba the past 2 weeks

Interesting, missed that. Still think I'm happy to field Cinc this week.

Yeah I thought he might still marshall the defence with Rampe out but it does seem like his CBAs are increasing.
