It's pretty obvious what they've done, which is take all the P1's, then ballot the P2's and P3's to determine which of them were going to get tickets.

All those went into a pool to which seats or standing room was randomly assigned.

The stuff up is they should have assigned the P1's first starting with Cat 1, then Cat 2 etc, then moved onto P2 etc.

Of course the information distributed to members is contradictory. But 100% this is a stuff up, you can't have P1 getting standing room while P2 gets a seat.

If anyone has a standing room they aren't using, I'm still after one.

or keen to swap 2 x cat 1 tickets (Seats are in N9) for 3 x tickets together in a lower category inc. standing room.

Hi All. Long shot here but worth a try. I missed out on the ballot and still very keen to take one of my sons to his first grand final. After 2 tickets any category. Please help.

Questions for anyone who's an MCC and lined up for a ticket the day of the granny. Would love it if you could help me out.

I'm using my step brothers MCC and wants me to take Dad. believe he's a full member, Am I only eligible for a single ticket? Or can I buy 2 or even 3 tickets?

Will I be fine just taking my step bros MCC membership card? We look enough alike in the photo ID for it to not concern me, but will they ask for a driver's license too? Do they ask for anything else on top of the membership card?

will the tickets be allocated seats?

Am after 2x GF tickets for me and my dad, prepared to pay $$$$$

I reckon Collingwood and Ticketek have articulated the process well for a number of years now. It is quite clear how ticketing for finals and the grand final functions. The majority of people understand the process and have had no problem getting tickets for any of the matches. BigFooty continues to provide a fantastic resource for clarification around ticketing :thumbsu:

A few disgruntled people who have misunderstood some of the nuance of it all have created the apparent furore.

Yep! I feel for those who missed out, but I agree standing room is fine (unless of course you're unable to stand for long periods of time, such as the frail or elderly, in which case I completely understand that standing room isn't a viable option). i missed out on tickets, and now looking for three anywhere anyprice.

I managed to get a standing room ticket in 2018 and loved it. Could come and go for beer and food as I pleased and it was a great atmosphere in there with other Pies supporters....right up until the 1:45 mark of the last quarter

Literally had this discussion yesterday, they will ask to see the photo and that’s it.
Unless of course and eagle eye attendant notices a discrepancy.
If you look enough like the owner you’ll be fine.

Apparently they give you a ticket and you can leave.

Vicky Park can shed some light on this.

How's the nerve of this guy?!? Coming into a Collingwood forum asking for tickets with a link to his fb profile showing Akermanis holding a premiership cup as his profile pic.... a more pointless post doesn't exist.
Swap the username's ll out for ck me thinks.

I don't know what to say Dave. Ticketek have obviously stuffed up. Anyone trying to buy tickets throughout the year are probably not surprised they have managed to stuff this up too.
Ticketek have said they have distributed the tickets according to the wishes of Collingwood FC, the AFL and the MCG.

Ticketek are now saying that is NOT how they ran the ballot!!
They say they randomly selected people and then randomly allocated seats (not next best available) and that is why some P1 got standing whilst P2 got reserved seats.
Unbelievable. It’s now clear they ran the ballot incorrectly.
Any P1 with standing (not me) should be outraged.
Ticketek's "best available" is totally stuffed. During the PF ticket window for AFL Gold it offered me standing room 3 times in a row before I tried specifying L2A and getting 2 great seats.

The only people that should be outraged are those that have done everything correctly and missed out on a ticket.
According to reports there were 37 P1 members who missed out because the would not accept standing room.

Guess I wait to 9 when Tickettek said they release the Results of Ballot so I have more idea what Happened
Remember Dave, Ticketek will try again to take the payment at 12pm today, so just make sure the money is in the account before then. That is your one and only task to guarantee a ticket.

I hope everyone gets the tickets they wanted and this legends business is sorted out! I am in the market for 2 x tickets and will be trawling threads all week trying to surprise my dad. Absolutely a long shot but if anyone comes across any I’d be happy to meet wherever to sort out an exchange.

Anyone got any tips for taking a 7 year old to standing room? I have never really noticed kids in that area before, but to be honest I have never taken much notice. Go Pies

I stood next to Mum in ‘79 as a 12 year-old

It was fine (apart from Harmes etc)

Height will be the key

So, either get there early and be at front, or have a bag she can stand on with a couple of hard cushions inside. Probably can’t bring in a milk crate or step

Noise can be fantastic because it rebounds off ceiling

There's a lot of celebrities and people associated with the sponsors, government officials and general rich well-connected people who have to get free tickets before the great unwashed can get access. I think everyone understand this is how the system works....

So a total of 17,000 tickets (presumably that includes standing room) is allocated to each competing club? That’s about a third of the total capacity. So much for the people’s ground. There’s ‘people’ and there’s people. This is a cricket ground controlled by the MCC who occupy privileged digs on the northern side behind the bowler’s arm and out of the sun for the session after ‘tea’ where a gentleman can enjoy a pre dinner aperitif away from the great unwashed.

Always was always will be.

Sorry for the intrusion, but grab them a pair of those noise reduction earmuffs. Here is a set to give you an example. Standing room is much louder than seats for some reason and we all know you Pies supporters are loud to being with! The last thing you want is to have to leave your standing room position because the noise is to much for little ears. Even if they do not get used, it's a good trick to have up your sleeve just in case.

Enjoy the game! This kiddo is about to make some memories for life.

No doubt about those sentiments. It's even more stark over here in Perth where they spent $2billion of the people's money a stadium that offers mostly luxurious conditions for rich people in private boxes, and a slightly better standard to the average punter...... and I say that having spent $400 for two tickets during the year to sit on the wing and just not be able to gain access to the private conditions provided to people who often dont pay themselves.....remembering the stadium was built with public money.

The reality is the game is funded by ordinary people who pay taxes, by ordinary people who buy foxtel and by ordinary people who buy tickets to the game. And yet tickets are given to the elite and ordinary people are excluded.
