I mean, this ****ing year of all years we still have people turning up on the Adelaide board of all places and claiming that the shittiness of AFL umpiring doesn't cost games.

Good god, what does it take for you people?

Of course it did. The game was balanced, that decision dramatically swung the probability of winning.

This dull need people have to to apologise for the absurd dodginess of this league is beyond me. Do we think they'll reward us if we just accept the non-stop interstate dicking over with good grace? Spoiler: they won't.
The game wasn't balanced, Brisbane were down by 4 points with a minute to go. Collingwood would be heavy favorites to win from that position even with a free kick 60m out to Brisbane.

Billy Frampton premiership player.

Sheesh.

No ill will towards the guy but it’s criminal that people like Noble, McStay and Adam’s etc miss out and don’t get a medal.

At least we can stop saying "what if this umpiring costs a team a GF one day"...
The AFL's official stance is "If you don't want to be dogged by umpires, then kick more goals earlier."

Do you not understand how the scoring works or something?

They had the opportunity to execute an attacking play when a singular score could take the lead. That's as balanced as a game is capable of being at that point, other than scores exactly level.

It was a bad decision. A terrible one.

But didn't directly cost the game.

Free kick 60m out with most of the 36 players in Brisbane's forward line. Collingwood players time to set up.

Unlikely to get a goal from that. Lions had few marks inside 50 all day.

Is also likely the Brisbane players knew this and played on after hearing the whistle. Chaos ball more likely to score a goal v a free kick 60 out.

It was how they scored all day.

There's nothing unlikely about it. It was entirely within the realm of possibilities: Collingwood were rattled.

Thats the way the cookie crumbles. Happens nearly every year.

History will forever say Billy is a premiership player now and no one can take that away from him.

Who cares what sort of game he played..

For all we know he played the exact game (by dragging his oppenent away from the contest) mcrea wanted him to..

Is there a touch of tall poppy syndrome going on in here… or professional jelousy?..

Good on Billy I say!..

It was only one decision in a pretty well umpired game overall

However what odds would you have that the one dodgy, late call would favour Collingwood?

$1.00000000000000000001

vs favouring Brisbane paying $260billion
