You would have to think our intel was if we wanted both Leake and Gothard we had to go early with Gothard

Only reason was North must've threatened to trade up to a high teens pick for gothard. Can't see any other real reason. That 2nd pick a bit of a weird trade imo since Wilson to me is equal in talent, also fills a need and suits our gamestyle. Maybe he was really against coming to Sydney or they simply had Leake rated higher.

I thought with the Adelaide trade we must have been looking at Leake and someone rated like Wilson.
If that is the 2 they wanted, they got them!
You'd still think Leake first would have seen them get both without having to trade out the original 2nd we picked up

I find that if people have preconceived notions of when a particular player was going to be available at, they're often wrong. It only takes one other club to grab that player earlier than expected.

Cal normally does an article after the draft highlighting all the machinations that took place. so that should allow our moves to make sense or not
