Think it was the right choice. Gave Maxwell an over or 2 to get his eye in before power hitting.Poor choice sending in Maxwell as he was our only power hitter in the middle order and there was still nearly 20 overs, need Head back to open and send Marsh in the middle order will give us 2 power hitter in the middle order and drop Labuschagne, can't play both him and Smith.
I’d rather that than rely on 2 openers to do it all5 major contributors in the SA innings.
Agree. Perhaps we just don't get the concept as a country, from grass roots up?Can only pick what is available to them
They weren't 1/200+, Maxwell clearly went in to continue the momentum. Both these guys came in with a lot of time left in the innings. Difference is they played themselves in before going bang instead of Maxwell throwing it away ball one. I think it was the right call. Not sure I’d go back to it though because Maxi mightn’t have the mindset for it. Seems to think the promotion up the order means he needs to strike at 600
Yes, also lack of talent choosing the sport nowadaysAgree. Perhaps we just don't get the concept as a country, from grass roots up?
Totally disagree. Maxwell got out first ball, that was the problem. Coming in with 20 overs remaining you would assume Maxwell could face at least 60 balls, which is potential for him a century.Poor choice sending in Maxwell as he was our only power hitter in the middle order and there was still nearly 20 overs, need Head back to open and send Marsh in the middle order will give us 2 power hitter in the middle order and drop Labuschagne, can't play both him and Smith.
Ask the Aussie selector, Candice.Any chance Warner goes another 4 years in ODIs?

We were 1/200+, Smith should have come in and played normally to set a foundation for Maxwell for the last 10 overs when he plays his best.Totally disagree. The top 3 is clear but anyone is a chance at 4th place. England should be confident of defeating Australia so we'll be 3 down too.Well, England's staring down the barrel of a 1-3 start & all but out of the semi final race.

Because he mentally saw the score card was 1/200+.Why is continuing the momentum having to try and hit it out of the stadium first ball? It gave him time to actually see a few balls and then go berserk like Klassen did. Klassen was 15 off 15 or something and then ended going at 160 SR. Maxi could’ve easily done something similar

More than likely he would have also tried to smash the first ball for 6 but they have a few power hitter so it couldn't effect their batting line-up had he also got out first ball whereas we don't because both Smith and Labuschagne are playing.I dare say if this South African middle order came in at 1/200 they’d make sure they cash in rather than throwing it away first ball
