ODI World Cups used to be on par if not more valued than the Ashes.
Right now ODI World Cups are worth a lesser value with the introduction of T20 World Cups. Also having a T20 World Cup every 2 years, dilutes the 50 Over World Cups a bit.
Where the ODI World Cups lost their value was around the year after 2011 when India probably won the World Cup for me. Indias IPL is now one of the strongest sporting leagues in the world.

I enjoyed the 1999 World Cup and 2003 World Cup for ODIs.
Bar the 2005 Ashes and probably this years Ashes in 2023, im struggling to find an Ashes that matched quality of that month of cricket. That 1999 World Cup had some real great games.

This is the biggest match Indian’s will get to see before the finals and it’s on a weekend, just shows that ODIs are struggling even in the most cricket crazy country. A heap of Aussies probably don’t even know this is on tonight, which I can’t remember happening in the past if it’s a WC.
This is a laughable post dude. One gets better crowds but more people care about the other?
Also if you can't remember who won the T20 WC's then you have memory problems tbh
