Are we running a football program or is the Admin more concerned with the balance sheet?

I’ll would think we would be the only club in the AFL that wouldn’t challenge the Young ban.

As pointed out, if you keep rolling over and accepting this clown’s MRO penalties, expect him to keep throwing them at you.

You wouldn’t even need a lawyer to get the Young ban thrown out.

It’s off topic but this club is ****ed if the key objective is to make profits each year at the expense of your football program.

I have a message for Amarfio. If you don’t spend money to get this football program up to standard, you won’t need to worry about your profits because the football club will be dead.

I get their needs to be a balance, but it seems the balance has skewed way more to the financial side instead of the clubs core business which is its football program.

I think the club did the correct thing here, at least in the JHF case. We clearly don't won't there to be bad blood next time Josh comes into free agency.
I think Amarfio saw that they might have to cut the lunch Buffett for the Execs to fund the appeal ;)

Both cases should have been appealed. The Young one to get it thrown out and the JHF one to downgrade it.

Anyone considered if they asked JHF and he said "no" l'll take the 3 week break and get my head straight ? Trip home to Mum & Fabian to sit down and talk.
Yeah, thought that maybe the club didn’t appeal to try and get him out of the limelight for at least a minute. Still coulda argued the call, as well as the Young ban

I can't even see what Young was cited for. Does anybody know? De Boer was already face planting.Young could have cleaned him up in the style of Choppy but seemed to do his best to avoid a dangerous collision.

It's just unfortunate that when Michael Christian spun the MRP wheel, it landed on careless conduct, medium impact and high contact.

Pathetic.

Care more about losing money than integrity and competitiveness.
We havnt challenged once. McKay and now this. Makes me think we don’t want the extra legal fees. It’s surely the only answer. How bad are we really tracking. We have cooked the books but still the club will get credit for no ****ing reason

They won't need to worry about balancing the books when memberships drop off a cliff...

If we keep this up, I can realistically see 10k dropping off

We weren't going to be able to argue the impact down. Kelly dropped and grabbed at his head, potential to cause injury clause fully in effect.

Yeah it's bullshit given Mckay's concussion the other week, but in isolation this is probably the right penalty.
I've hit the piss harder than Kelly copped it.

AFL - the only sport in the world where potential to injure trumps actual injuries...

Plus sponsors will also dry up.

People won’t be so eager to put their hands in their pocket if they don’t see the club proactively trying to improve their football program.

I said it earlier, watering down the football program just so you can record a profit, is essentially death by a thousand cuts. You need to be keeping up at a minimum if you want a chance at success, because the alternative is just resigning yourself to making up the numbers.

Have read a few people say stuff like "Needs the 3 weeks to clear his head, extended break back to see mum and dad" etc.

Just because he's suspended doesn't mean he's excused from training. He gets the same break as everyone else.

JHF deserved 2 weeks, he hit him good. If Kelly had done the same to JHF we'd be calling for him to miss a month.

I thought we could have challenged Young's though. Was worth the free and nothing more.

If he 'hit him good' he'd be taken off on a stretcher...

If Kelly did it to Hornet I wouldn't bat an eyelid. If he concussed him it would be a different story, but as he got mostly shoulder, then there was no chance of that happening.

" lt has been decided that player Stewart was blinded by the MCG lighting and thus believed player Prestia was in possession of the ball as he was falling, thus his head was where player Stewart thought his ribs where. Tom, sorry, player Stewart was plucked from obscurity from Boggs creek to rise quickly to stardom and has become the best defender in the game. He has a lovely headband and tatts, a cool moustache and a beautiful wife & children. Therefore no penalty or sanction will be applied and we wish him all the best on Brownlow night "
