Can't stomach two of Hunt/Constable/Liam Jones in the backline,
Keeping Hunt..
Best case scenario/my predicted averages,

Mitchell (110) & Liam Jones (55) =165
VS
Sheed (88) & Ridley (84) = 172

First two are definitely best case scenario scores over the course of the year I think. Possibly safe scores on the latter two, which still outscore Mitchell/Jones.
Just want to avoid the scenario in the first sentence of my post.

Opinions, guesses, stern warnings?

Ridley will be 85 plus
Titch won’t be 110

Tossing over one last decision at the moment.

Currently have Green M4 and The Poo F6 with Pedlar on the bench.

Do I downgrade Green to Worpel at M4 and then upgrade Pedlar to Flanders and move The Poo to the bench?

Davey is my utility so having Poo on the bench also provides midfield depth if I need to swing him in there.

Feel like it would be loosing perhaps on ave 10 points per game but gives greater flexibility having The Poo on the pine over Pedlar.


Green + Poo onfield = 170 pts
Worpel + Flanders (Poo benched) = 160 pts

Just feel Green is going to start with a bang and I’ll regret it but I can’t decide! Also don’t like the look of Worpel at M4.

Also think it’s questionable how many decent $200k rooks there are in the backline so although I’m not sold on Jones there’s no doubting his JS.

Yeah it’s tough to know whether to go deeper in defence and shallow in mids or get that 4th premo mid and run the rookie gauntlet at D6.

Had a look at my structure from last year and had following;

DEF: 2 premos, 2 high end MP and 2 low end MP with Paddy Mc and SDK on bench.
MID: 2 Ubers, 1 breakout and 1 underpriced premo, 1 MP and 3 rooks
RUCk: set and regret Gawndy
FWD: 2 premos, 1 underpriced premo, 2 low end MP and a basement rook.

This year that fwd structure is looking like my potential def structure
MID: think I’m looking at 2 premos and 2 breakouts
RUCK: 2 underpriced guys
FWD: 3 premos 1 breakout 1 MP and 1 rookie

The backline looks grim but so did the forward line last year

I think the backline will be fine eventually - as somebody else said, there are actually some good premos to pick but they just aren’t really at a value price. Once they drop a little we should have some good upgrades available, it’s just going to be ugly to start.

I’m embracing the garbage backline at the moment - Yeo is my D2 and Day is D3

Constable, Ginbey and Cincotta/Cowan at the moment, so let’s be honest it’s weak as water. But I’ve got some cash to upgrade a bench rookie to Jones in order to get Cincotta/Cowan off field if really needed.

Not going to be pretty early but then I really doubt Hunt is going to be either, and it means I can bat a little deeper in the midfield and forward line where I have a lot more confidence in the premo options anyway

I just had a play around with similar and I can see exactly why you’re doing it

I’m just not sure what to do with the spare $170k other than make Darcy English or M4 to say a Josh Kelly to Brad Crouch range.

Haha I feel like I’m leading you astray and now we’re BOTH going to go down in flames

I got Darcy up to English and from memory had a little bit of money lying around so was also able to go back to running Green at M4 instead of having to run another Sheed/Callaghan mid price type to go alongside Worpel. So it looks miles better for me now despite the rubbish backline

Constable is the real problem I think. Not sure we can rely on him at all. Even if he doesn’t get dropped they’ll want the ball in the other guys hands.

Yeah probably. I’m still confident he’ll be fine for a couple of weeks which is long enough to see which rookies are safe to field or downgrade him to. Risky but I don’t really see any other way. All the options back there are hopeless.

De Goey v Daicos v Rozee ?

Now I'm against Rozee, one of the few, based on ownership .....but he'll be a tagger target, and he won't handle it ....plus PORT have a tough first 6 games

So, for now ....I moved De Goey (M5) to Daicos (D3) .....which allowed me to move Ginbey into the midfield ....one DEF rookie on-field
