Maybe it's all part of the plan. The club didn't want to announce that Walsh was only coming in on an interim 4 month bridging role
and thought it would sound better if it was announced as a more long term appointment. Walsh comes in, knifes Ratten, checks the
place out for a couple of months and exits stage right. Good theory. What is next ? A RTB patsy yes man ? If SOS ends up with the
job I am predicting serious meltdowns around here.

I'm not sure how the words that I have said can be twisted into the fact that he shouldn't have left the club.

I only said that I wish he stayed with us for the long term as he seemed a wonderful operator.
You said he was a poor choice with the reasoning that he lasted months in the gig.

He was a great choice. It’s a blow to the club and without him we don’t get Ross which means to Harves BJ Mission

Yes, it was worth it.

Got some huge changes done in the time.

Was it a poor choice .. Yes. Was it a worthwhile choice .... Yes.

You can have the two... in life there is rarely black and white. It's mostly grey

Enough with the conspiracy theories.

could you imagine the carry on if the head line was

Saints knock back Walsh in case something bad happens in the future
Walsh has said himself months before we hired him that he had ongoing family issues and wanted to spend more time with them and away from the game. The club should've taken his personal situation into account before signing him to a permanent full time role.

He did a great job while he was here but we should've used a bit of foresight before putting someone who already admitted to dealing with some issues in his personal life into a really important role.

Perhaps by this point he has done a majority of what was really required so it won't be a big loss, however we don't know for sure if this was his finished product or if the club expected him to continue to make adjustments to the footy department. I would say there's still work left to do.

Either way it's a significant loss and someone of his experience and skill cannot be replaced. Whoever we get in hopefully meshes with the rest of the staff and has the ability to successfully do the job because I would assume at this point in the year we won't be getting anyone better or equal to Walsh.

I wonder what Ross thinks too, as Walsh was a key part of Ross' decision to coach at our club again.

so 800 ish
punter kicker picker stacker
cant say i watch it tbh

i think they should play with a nerf ball and have sticky velcro helmets to catch it for touchdowns
That's lingerie football, give that a go

Walsh never said he had family issues prior to us recruiting him. You’re making that up. He has a sick family member, it’s a new situation. He wouldn’t have taken the job if he thought the situation would occur, he’s a very smart man.

Punters are the worst paid on the roster but still $1 million plus US a year.

Know his mum from the footy, went to college on a sports scholarship ( Auburn) and didn't care if he made NFL only wanted his business degree paid for..
Got the nod from the Eagles and here he is.

On SM-S908E using BigFooty.com mobile app
If he wins he will be the greatest thing to come out of Hallam.

who is to say they didn't
Maybe Walsh thought things were looking up and was confident everything on the home front was fine and there has been a set back
Jesus club was good enough to get one of the best operators going around but it hasn't worked and we still want to smash the club

He was on an interview maybe mid year last year and said it, why would I make it up lol

I'm not arguing for us NOT to go after him, we should've and glad we did, but perhaps just don't commit to it for permanent full time when he has said what he's said already.

Reading the quotes it seems pretty obvious that it's a serious family situation. The club and Walsh wouldn't make it up.

It's a shame as he was a great appointment but I'm sure we can find someone good to fill the position. Hopefully things improve for Walsh.

Onwards and upwards.

I'm more concerned about us putting him into full time work in a really important role given his prior comments. Said many times I loved the appointment.

I agree mate. Of course I am joking. I just like to go a bit mad at times like this.

I'm really glad he came on board. We're in a better place for it.

And for all the bagging of Trout, don’t we now have 3 guys doing the job/s he was doing pretty much by himself, prior to getting the flick?

I was reported at the time he was sacked that it was highly unusual that someone at an AFL club would be responsible for both the drafting and list management, so at the time we had him doing the job of two men, and now it looks like he was doing the jobs now filled by Allen, SOS and Toce!

And to be honest, the only real issue he had with drafting was that he didn’t get that one or two “superstars” that you really need to go all the way.

Outside of that he generally got relatively good value out of his picks, and he also managed to find a couple of gems in the rookie draft, in Sincs and Marshall.
Trout = Kiss of Death
Our drafting over his tenure was woeful.
