Autopsy 2023 Preliminary Final Blues brave season comes to an end

I said at some point earlier this year improving our bottom six would be transformational.

Turns out that improvement was within and the team was indeed transformed when everyone on the park started contributing.

Onward and upward for 2024...one or two missing pieces, more natural progression, some finals experience/heartbreak...we have A LOT to look forward to.

I am exhausted after the last few weeks - what a wild ride this year was. Proud of the boys and stoked I got to see not one, but TWO winning finals in the flesh.

Time for a well-earned rest and to book in some surgeries. Let’s aim for top 4 next year (and for Brisbane to smash some Pies next week). Up the Baggers

I'm not the only one to say that we're a better team without Pittonet. He's not good or quick enough around the ground or forward to be a number one ruckman. Game has gone past his type.

Have to concede the selection committee nailed this game.

Boyd was an inspired choice. Marchbank stood up. Hollands didn't wither under the physicality of finals footy.

Motlop vs Owies is the only arguable point, and I don't think it would have swayed the outcome either way.

Exactly. Or that we don’t know our opposition’s one wood? Everyone knew how the Melbourne final was going to look. The Sydney and Brisbane finals, it was a matter of which style would prevail.

Call it as I see it. Hewett's disposal is ordinary at best and had an average finals series. Handballs to players under pressure and no penetration on his kicks

To improve next season we can't have the same midfield group we had tonight.

Pittonet offers us very little around the ground. Never seen a ruckman who can't jump and so slow. Needs a massive preseason to work on his running and jumping.

Have to disagree.
Kemp was sorely missed down back.
Owies would have been a leading option and able to put pressure on. Our forward pressure was woeful.
Kennedy was ok but we really needed some speed from the sub.
Boyd was good but I'd say the MC failed miserably.
I just hope we don't lose players because of it.
