Cincotta stays in AND Boyd in? I just don't get it. I wish him well, but I just don't get it.

BUT: Kemp out? Hmmm...

Could be a late change (Cinc for Kemp) but I actually think we’ve gone with a smart backline. We’d have otherwise been too tall. They have Hipwood and Daniher and then a bunch of blokes 183cm or smaller (Rayner 186cm). This is where they got us last time, they had too much pace and got out the back far too easily. I really like that we’ve gone smaller.

So without Payne & being replaced by Gardiner who has been out most of the season, we should be able to stretch them, with the return of Martin (who plays tall) & H

DeKoning drifting forward could prove very dangerous for them, even if TDK isn’t the target as they will have to watch him.

Who ever is on Gardiner needs to be our best Avenue to goal.

It’s also going to be interesting how they use Andrews. He has been at his best when Payne is there(almost back to AA form) as Payne allows him to play that Lever role as the third one up & reading the play. I don’t think Gardiner gives him that same luxury (and history shows that when Payne hadn’t forced his way in over Gardiner). Andrews may very well have to go back to Charlie at some point which will be a huge win for us.

Wow more than I was anticipating. Happy with the changes though.
Think the match ups work better down back and Owies and Cuningham had definitely tapered off up forward. It is a long season for Cunners with minimal preseason.

As Kennedy played mainly forward minutes last week, have we essentially dropped 3 forwards for 2 and a winger?
Assuming that means Docherty and Cottrell to spend more time in the forward half.

Big selection calls by the MC, a little surprised by who goes out more so than the idea.

We don’t need essentially 4 tall defenders, I was surprised it was Kemp who went out.

Cunners and Kennedy ommisions make sense and I hope Kennedy is sub, even though I think Dow would be better.

In general I’m a long way off being convinced by Boyd by the coaching staff have faith and I back that.

Fog needs to lift if he’s spending more time forward, Owies despite two poor weeks is a very smart forward

Dropping Kemp big mistake. He has been gold for our winning run. So has Cuningham. If it ain't broke, don't fix it.

Should have dropped Cottrell and Kennedy for Martin and McKay with Hollands remaining the Sub.
If it ain’t a broke, don’t fix it.

But drop Cottrell.

Hope Charlie doesn't just wrestle with Gardner or Andrew's and work them over instead .. doc for a fwd and play Hollands wing works for me and bringing in boyd good- thought maybe would be kemp over cincotta but MC knows roles they want ( kemp failure to address when to punch and when not to leave his man has been costly last month) saying that marchbank dropping chest marks and missing several easy play has cost us goals also -- may be down to who weiters trusts more ..
Reckon we can win this if we defend our turn overs well to cause stoppage ..

Thought someone said doc trained a s forward this week . Defensive forward as he did last time against brisbane

I am surprised Owies has been dropped. Has played every game when fit and is our second leading goal kicker on the season, ahead of even McKay for both total and average.

He also provides good tackle pressure and is a reliable set shot for goal.

He won't kick 5, but he always kicks 1 or 2. Only two games without a goal all year. Motlop more likely to kick multiple but also has 8 games for the year with none.

We will put heaps of pressure on Coleman

The way I see it, crucial that we are switched on for the start of each qtr

Win the stoppages, it they look like winning it, force them to release backwards rather than front of stoppage

Think the most critical part of the ground for both teams is the Lions HB line

Vossy and the MC have earnt our trust so reasonably happy with those ins.

Like Martin/Mckay in. Like Marchy in over Kemp because he keeps offering leads and at times we will need that. Plus Kemp couldnt stand Hipwood.

I'm nervous on Boyd/Hollands. Boyd in is a surprise to me but guess they have a target for him. Hope he doesn't have the fumbles like Kennedy did coming in without playing recently, and without facing this type of pressure. If he is 5% off it will mean goals. Not a great fan but willing to be proven wrong. No need to take me to task, its only 'slight' nervousness.

Hollands I loved as a sub but he will face incredible pressure physically early in the game. I guess they weighed up the fact that as a young player he will take on the game and not be conservative; this vs his lack of size and potential to get physically monstered. Again , just nervousness on him coming in at this pressure level.

I think hidden in these selections is the change to our forward line. Cunners, Owies, and fogarty were simply in the side to create forward half pressure. It is their 1 wood and anything else is a bonus. We have now morphed to Martin, Motlop and fogarty. It is slightly different as Martin/Motlops one wood is creativity and goals. Martin also provides hardness. But both these players have forward half pressure furhter down their DNA. How this impacts the game I'm not sure as Brissy are good on turnovers.

I also feel losing Owies/Cunners leaves fogarty solely running after players 100% for no reason meaning less chance for him to catch anyone. Just a slight downgrade as his partners in crime our now Martin and Motlop.

Having now said all that, I'm bullish on charlie, Mckay, Walsh and Cerra giving us every chance.
