Doesn't make any sense. If we're fearful of Bud or TMac going down or not fit enough, don't play them.

Can anyone explain why Francis, in questionable conditions, against this opposition, is a good choice for sub? We already have 4 possible KPDs in the team against Riewoldt, a resting ruck and a 192cm debutant. Heeney or Hayward can take a KPD if needed, Francis isn't going to do any better.

Hey you know my thoughts on the first one about playing those two, but you seem to want to play them. Look personally I'd go a runner but if it's a tall Francis makes some sense as a utility

If we don't think they can last a game, don't play them. This talk of "oh we'll just sub TMac or Buddy off for Francis late on" is fanciful. A mid goes down and now you've got Francis loping around, less mid rotations and a cooked Buddy or TMac. In iffy conditions, against an opponent who we should be able to handle even if a KPD goes down.

Look personally I wouldn't be playing Bud but many on here don't like that. I would have a runner as the sub and you know actually use the sub this week!

the club have taken a pretty conservative approach to both TMac and Buddy so I doubt the sub choice is based on those 2 alone. Given our run with in-game KP injuries this year though I can see why we might want backup.

Anyway, I can't think of many examples this year where the 23rd best player in a side has come on and changed the game in his team's favour either way.

Good sides know how to use the sub well, unfortunately we are terrible at it

But we have backup in the 22 already, the Tigers don't have the talls to necessitate it, and the conditions don't suit.

I’m talking about erasing anymore gf 2022 memories with the MCG.
I think it'd be Cats related, not the ground. We just weren't good enough vs the Dees and Pies earlier this year. In 2015 we won both our games there, including against the Hawks. Flogged the Tigers there in 2021, beat the Dees there twice last year.

Yeah I personally reckon the subs impact has largely been fairly minimal, particularly if they’ve come on later.

A few years ago with 3 on the bench and the 4th was sub they seemed to have more impact as there was more fatigue.

Now with 4+1 not as many players are fatigued to the same level.
