Bont is like a diesel train that takes time to wind up.

The worse Dogs get the harder he’ll work.

I wouldn’t trade him
Whilst I agree, the Bozo (bevo) proclamation that he'll have to get creative this week (or words to that effect) would have every supporter cringing and players wtf?

Bevo is like Willy Wonka. Oddball.

Think he needs to move into Chocolate manufacture then - but was given a two year extension to his Bulldog Comedy Tour!

Setters and Daicos are almost must haves with BE, price & points scoring at the moment.

But at what cost? Doc and Macrae? Don’t really have many other concerns

If you must, though I don't really see the rush.

79k in the bank already.

The trouble is getting someone good for both Flanders and Steele.

Can get Flanders to Stocker (via DPP switching) then Steele to Laird/Bray/Oliver.
Flanders to Ziebell gets me 934k for a mid, and the only ones I like in that range are LDU.
OK ....I've had a LONG look at this ....there's a few ways to go, but nothing really worked involving Flanders

1. Yes you could go Steele to LDU and Flanders to Ziebell ....you already have a lot of midpricers & I feel you need some reliable premo's for (C) and general scoring

Macrea is dropping in value and only averaging 90 ....do you trust him to bounce back ?

Between Laird & Oliver, you have 75% ownership .....either goes big & its going to hurt you ...too much risk

2. I'd go Steele to LDU or Setterfield (probably LDU) and Macrae to Oliver or Laird .....fix Flanders next week

Setterfield will give you the biggest cash grab this week ....but LDU is probably more reliable longterm

My concern is that if I keep delaying Flanders, I just know he's going to be in my side come the byes.
Plenty of food for thought though.

The other option is
1. Hope I get a good VC out of English/Macrae/Dunkley.
2. Trade out Steele and Flanders to Setterfield and Ziebell.
3. Have 210k in the bank to go after one of Laird/Olver/Brayshaw next round (Macrae, T.Green, Rozee possible upgrades).

I do this every year.. put together a perfect starting team after the fact to make me hate myself.

Haven't checked if this would have fit under the salary cap but feels like it would have. It's just off the top of my head and not too captain hindsight like not having Dunks or Doch. If you nailed all the right mid pricers you'd be rocking either way

Doch Daicos Day Stocker Constable Ginbey
Oliver LDU Green Gulden Setters Worp Ash Mackenzie
English Marshall
Dunks Taranto Cogs Ziebell Sheez Chandler

Banked cash (265k) with Stewart down to Day last week, which I reckon might come in handy this week given I seem to already have most of the mid pricers we desperately want in our sides now (Day, Worpel, Setterfield, Callaghan, Daicos, LDU).

Not sure there's any rookies worth thinking about, and while the defence spooks me with Cowan, Constable, Uwland, Wilmot & Chesser all in the gun (& two on the field for me still), I'm going to hope most hold on.

Thinking:

T1: Bruhn to Ziebell
T2: Macrae to Brayshaw/Oliver/Laird. Probably Laird

Leaves 6k

Considerations:
  • I could downgrade Macrae to Tom Green/Serong, then upgrade Bruhn to Coniglio
  • I'm also giving stupid consideration to Zorko given his match last week & how impacted his 2022 numbers were from in-game injuries etc. (and ignoring the repeat potential of that if i bring him in)
  • If I don't get rid of Macrae, it's either a fiddle around with rookies (Chesser, Uwland, Cowan), move McGrath to another defender, or god forbid Callaghan goes out injured which would **** any trade plans for a Ziebell as there's no mid within 100k of Finn worth going to... I almost think keeping Tanner is better value than anyone I could move Finn too, lmao
Thoughts?

32k in the bank, not really a lot jumping out at me...

Not really ready to ditch Doc as i think he'll come good. Could play the BE game and go Bazlenka down to Setters or LDU. That said Smith averaging a ton after being polaxed in round one so seems a waste......

any ideas?

Need to try and get some cash gen in or you're going to stall out when attempting to upgrade in a few weeks..

Finn > Ollie Hollands
Chesser > Luke Pedlar

I'm genuinely stumped as to what to do here - it's a really good team with lots of high scoring mids that should deliver points for you and your MP's still have cash to make. It's quite G&R style which is interesting (only 3 midpricers - I have 7).

Only issue I can see is potentially cash gen on the bench drying up, making upgrades tough down the track.

I'd try to get in one of the lower BE rookies with good JS that you don't own for your bench - e.g. Pedlar, Caminiti (maybe), Hollands (would be a stretch $ wise) - by turning 2 dud rookies into a good one and a $200K'er (if named on Thursday). Very boring trading that doesn't improve your score this week but will pay off long-term.

(Or go Smith to Setterfield to release cash I guess (then e.g. McVee - Hollands on Trade #2), but Baz looks good - much better than his teammate in the #11)

Help needed! I can't figure out what to do regarding trades. There's nothing obvious that I need to do unless I do sideways trades like Rozee -> Setterfield, and Callaghan to Stocker.

Def: Docherty, Dawson, Daicos, Constable, Ginbey, Wilmot (Cowan, Chesser)

Mid: Laird, T.Green, Dunkley, Gulden, Worpel, Callaghan, Ashcroft, Mackenzie (Hollands, Alwyn Davey)

Rucks: English, Marshall (M.Heath)

Forwards: Taranto, Coniglio, Rozee, Ziebell, Sheezel, K.Chandler (Fergus Green, Pedlar)
Util: Noah Long

I have 28k in my bank.

Is it too late to get Chandler in my team? (couldn't due to Rd 1 injuries grr)
Chandler is still one of the better options going around at the moment

Will he survive another couple weeks is the question. Was average against the lions and sydney wont be much easier. After swans they have a nice draw which he will score well. Personally if he survived selections i would still get him in. He has the potential of a 75 ave player meaning still alot more to make.

Who is higher priority to get into the side: Ziebell, Setterfield or Stocker? All have very low breakevens.
Concerns for Ziebell are that he's getting a lot of mark/kicks from chipping it around the backlines and from doing the kick-ins. Aaron Hall is due back soon and may take over this role.
Setterfield looked good on the weekend, but had a calf concern late. Played out the game though.
Didn't watch Stocker play so no idea what sort of role he has.

As others have already said, I would be looking at rookies that are going to generate cash.

Based on that, you really need to wait for teams to see if any of yours get dropped. Long, McVee, Cowan and Chesser have the highest breakevens from your squad, and you're missing Caminiti, Pedlar and Ryan that have three out of the four lowest BEs (Wilmot is the other one and you have him already). There's also the possibility of new players debuting that you could consider.

Moving out Dunkley or Doch would be the same as those that dumped Laird after one bad game... could be genius, but more likely to be a bad long term decision.

See my post #247 replying to Quazza... very similar situations, which would make most of us envious.

Ive gone Macrae > Setterfield

The second trade im having a few thoughts with. The options ive been considering that I need to choose from:

Constable > Rioli (103k bank)
De Goey > Laird (145k bank)
Worpel > LDU (92k bank)
Phillipou > Ziebell (102k bank)

Leaning towards De Goey > Laird because my midfield looks a bit week without a premo like Oliver, Laird or Brayshaw

thanks mate. yeah there's just no rookies. Does Caminiti have job security? Or Miller Bergman? Samson Ryan had to kick 3 goals straight for only 57, Liam Henry? Do I role the dice on an untried rookie like Van Rooyen/Cincotta (if they get named) who could get dropped in 2 weeks time?

Assuming Cowan gets dropped I've gone with Cowan--> Samson Ryan (dpp)
Finn Callaghan ---> Stocker.

Thoughts?

Or I'm highly considering Rozee --> Setterfield for cash generation but surely Rozee improves and Setterfield declines. No clue lol.
