Very true..I mean Melbourne can come out today and say under no circumstance are we trading him and he will say bad luck and screw the contract, I am joining the crows..no idea how it happens with Melbourne saying no, but he will say to the world he is joining the crows and when next season starts, he will be there round 1 in Melbourne colours

Nope. If its to a point where the club are forcing him to play he will sit out and they'll pay him $1m to sit on the sidelines. (Think Cam McCarthy). Then he's worth even less to Melbourne a year later, so they paid $1m and he sat, and now theyve gotta trade him for less.

Its a lose-lose scenario that no club wants to go through in reality and makes no sense

OR it could be like Papley and time heals all wounds and Oliver goes on to be one of Melbourne' all time greats

Is this your first time to AFL?
How the player feels and what the player wants is the only thing that matters.

Contracts mean precisely 0 in this situation.
Wasn't Charlie Cameron still under Contract to us, when he wanted to go to BRIS

For what it’s worth, I made this account to totally defuse any rumours of who “Alex“ allegedly is or isn’t.

I’m glad I live rent free in many people heads for close to 10 years. it’s time to move on. I have.

I do still read as the odd tidbit of information does become factual but I have not thought about making an account for close to 3 years. I do enjoy reading the thoughts about the Crows from a few, not many, but a few as they do have quite a bit of passion for the club.

I don’t care if this account gets shut down, blocked or whatever as I won’t be using it anymore, but I DO NOT use or have any Big Footy account and I do not care if anyone believes me or not. You are only wasting your own time.

Enjoy your latte at the square and hope the sand doesn’t get in to many of your private parts.

Enjoy!

That said, Oliver is under no obligation to suit up for Melbourne if he desperately wants out. He has his payday and job security after all.

Something we've seen before with Cam McCarthy and one other player, though both with one year left in their deal.

Long contracts are a double edged sword.
I wasn't aware that you can sign a contract to do a job and then just not show up to do it and expect to get paid.

Can I try that, do you think?

At the very least you'd think there would be clauses that cover that behaviour in a contract.

This has been alledged to have happened in the past. Cam McCarthy sat out 2016 to force a trade to Fremantle. Just slap on an indefinite leave for personal issues which magically fix itself once you get traded and you're golden. Of course - it is more common in other sports, mainly NFL with players refusing to play in contractual holdouts.

But if it happens there, it'll eventually creep its way into here.

They probably don't. I doubt AFLPA would let anything slide that would remove tools a player has to get out of a club that's gone toxic on them. Even if that means going the nuclear route.

11 and 14 still on.

Another target too. Not a big fish though. A big bird.

Would we look at out of contract still to my knowledge, strongly built running machine mid/defender Cooper Hamilton as some form of trade for Himmelberg? Can play, booming kick, tough as and is best buds with Josh Rachele and several of our players. Surprised GWS haven't re-signed him at this point
Was just rumoured on SEN ....we would take Haines for Himmelberg IF ....GWS pay 60% of his salary

we do not want a F1
I do. I want the option to be able to jump in front of the Welsh bid for one of the many highly touted mids in next years draft. TBH I'd like to make a play for that F1, Ports F1, maybe even snake one of the speculative F1's from North before the AFL review it. Give me all the ammo next year.

Not convinced Welsh will remain in top 5 contention given his tweener forward size. Wouldn't be surprised if the bid landed in the 8-12 range next year.

And next year is supposedly brimming with better midfield talent in the top 10.
