2024/2025 Gold Coast Draft & Trade Periods

You could be right. The draft could be deep and North got a great player. But how do we know next years draft isn't going to be deep. Alot of players could hit their peaks next year and then it's the same as this year.

I just hope we don't trade a F1 for any picks now since I'd rather use them next year for academy players or players slide down the order
At this point, I want us to keep all picks. Picks helped us get Rioli and Noble this year. Let’s see if they help us do something more next year.

Assuming we keep the team and there are no requests to leave (e.g Rowell), then we don’t need heaps more younger players immediately, when we can top up on academy high end talent. 1-2 players a year is enough unless the team start to fall apart; that’s what most clubs do…

Problem is that the draft is deep. Not sure how good it is overall compared to other drafts with a couple of stand-outs, but just seems pretty solid. Clubs didn’t seem like they wanted to trade… took a future first from North just to get the last pick of the round.

Maybe North must want to take the two brothers, and got in with this pick to get the first one and will take the other with their early second round pick.
Norths next pick is 54. They traded the second pick for tonight to the bulldogs previously.

Problem is we had too many picks, which meant Richmond and Collingwood could demand more from us

With their remaining picks, the Suns are among key defender Noah Mraz's biggest fans and he is some chance to be available at pick 42. Fellow defender James Barrat has also been linked, while the club is poised to add academy forward Lachie Gulbin as a Category B rookie. Gulbin played 11 games for their VFL side this season and turns 18 this weekend.

Yeah, getting involved in a bidding war with clubs who want KPF Shanahan/Whitlock and giving up an f1 to then not take either sounds exactly like something a club who values draft picks as much as us would do.

Could be an entertaining night.

Not fussed what we do tonight, would love a Darcy Wilson type athlete this late in the draft I know they don’t exist this late but would be nice

There’s no way I can watch tonight. Can’t put myself through that again. I will read this thread every 15mins or so.
I just want a VFL two year minimum wage list clogger at pick 57 and nothing else.

If we have a rush of blood and trade back in then I’m going to meltdown deluxe.

I don't follow draftees. As people talk about Mraz I looked him up. He had navicular fracture otherwise he would be probably 1st round. He looks bloody talented, 199cm, good closing speed. Comparing him to Sam Taylor. I take that. Here is future 1st round pick. Choose one, haha.

9. Noah Mraz
Dandenong Stingrays/Vic Country
DEF, 199cm
Talent League: 2 games, 19.5 disposals, 4.0 marks, 2.5 tackles

Mraz is the forgotten man, a brilliantly competitive key defender who takes pride in his defensive assignments and wins his battles consistently. Injury has robbed him in his top-age campaign, but recruiters know his quality should make him a top-30 pick.

Best traits similar to: Sam Taylor

Let North have the worst trading team tag for one year please Gold Coast, do not trade a F1 for a pick 28-30 when we need to match the potential no. 1 pick next year under the new system.
I watched quite a lot Zeke and I would be shocked if he ends up pick 1 next year. Absolutely shocked. First round, yes, 10+ for me.

We play finals in 2025. No? So only 2 bid matches in 1st round. Uwland and possibly Addinsall. We can use F1 tonight 😂

I bet plenty of teams are trying to make a deal with Tigers.

That other first could be used to trade in a mature player though....trading will be different next year when teams can use their first from 2025/26/27.

IMO we have to keep taking as many of these gun academy players as possible as sooner or later the well will run dry. Hearing Leo talk about how Rogers was like his big brother was so cool, these guys have grown up together and are super tight. Next years kids may look at Leo the same way.

Can't wait to see lombard in action, he is a faster butters, going to add a lot to our team, with davies and humphreys our midfield will be deep. Up forward with rogers and mally, that is a very fast front half. Strong, always up for it. Going to be a heart and soul player for us.

We are almost into the position of where the giants are.
They have their core group of players and their fringe players are just a revolving door for first round draft picks except the players we have been picking up are locals so maybe in a few years we will possibly start to lose academy players seeking more opportunities
