Should be interesting

Does it automatically go to John Longmire?
Has Carlton improved enough to award it to Michael Voss?
Where does Geelong have to finish to give it to C.Scott?
Have Fremantle shown enough consistency for Longmuir to take out the award?
Could Sam Mitchell win it if the Hawks make finals?
... or is it too early to tell

If you look at the change in ladder position from after GF 2023 to after Rd19 2024

J.Longmuir +10
J.Longmire +7
C.Scott +6
S.Mitchell +5
D.Hardwick +3

Not a huge fan of Sam Mitchell since "corkygate" but gee he has done a tremendous job with that young group and I enjoy watching the hawks play (and as a freo fan Im definately not a Hawks fan but credit to where they are).

Excuse my ignorance but who votes for this - coach peers ?

Longmire. Sure he’s added some personnel over the off season but on paper their talls aren’t superstars - Melican, Rampe, Amartey, McDonald, McLean, McCartin. Good run with injury too I guess (16 players have played all or all bar 1 game) but still got a good game plan to suit their side and I reckon far enough ahead on the ladder that it should count for coaching too.

Most had Cats and Hawks missing finals.
Should be Scott or Mitchell.

That Chris hasn't won COTY despite 10 top 4 finishes and 2 flags is staggering.
Obviously means nothing Clarko done much better by winning 4 flags at the Hawks but was never awarded COTY

Very few in preseason on here or in the football media (other than Damien Barrett) had Geelong playing finals, there's a thread stating we have the worst midfield in the finals, and another says we can't develop youth.

Yet we're now guaranteed to finish no lower than 4th this season.
What more does Scott need to do to win coach of the year. Still yet to get the accolade.

1. Chris Scott
2. Adam Kingsley
3. John Longmire
4. Sam Mitchell (will jump if they win a final)

Is this is a bad time to mention Ken Hinkley?

It's still too early to predict a coach of the year until the finals have played out, whoever wins the flag should be coach of the year.

Even Kenny still has a chance of doing that but he is pushing shit up hill now.
