Cant quite explain how I’ve dropped off so badly over the byes. Rd11 I had my best score for the year and was flying. Ive somehow copped all the floor scores from premiums over the last month whilst popular premiums I don’t have started hitting ceilings.

Im actually stoked with the side I’ll be running into next week. Has a looping rookie in the forward line which won’t be much worse than the F6 premium everyone is running, but everyone else is basically top of their line.

Feel like I copped some terrible form/matchups from my entire team at the same time which has cost me my season.

Just shows if you're full premos coming into the byes it sets you up very well over it because you can sideways the whole way through it.
Yep, Benny smashing us by 300 is evidence in the gap between the top 500 or so and those below.

Also evidence that Bye planning is less about being well set up from the Byes from a "[x] on this bye [y] on this bye" perspective and more just - have the best bloody side possible before the byes perspective, particularly with a 4 round bye round that makes it so much easier to hit 18 players each week.

No doubt I got VERY lucky over the past month (and honestly the whole year), but my bye plan of:

(a) Get a full team of premiums by Round 12
(b) Maximise premiums on field each round through sideways trades

Served me really well and I think it was very different to what others were doing. I would far prefer only having 19 playing but 18 of those are premiums, than having 21 or 22 playing but only 15 or 16 are premiums.

Dowling was the only rookie I brought in through the byes, while the other 8 trades were sideways to premiums (Zorko, Gulden, Ryan, Grundy, Tom Green, Caldwell, Newman, Merrett).

Thanks to all of my Bigfooty assistant coaches for their help during the byes 🙌

Feel like it also depends what premos you had originally too. I thought I was well set up for byes numbers wise but didn’t get any ceiling scores from my top end mids to counteract the dud rookie/midpricer scores.

A lot of the highly owned premiums had a great month despite being underwhelming a few weeks prior. Bont, Whit, Sheez, Xerri (I owned none of these) as well as Day and Crisp being game changing mid range guys that I didn’t jump on

I went in with some huge names in the middle that had their worst stretch of games all at the same time. Dawson, Steele, Dunkley + Merrett and Gulden (who were both good) and then topped it off with the big brain move of bringing in the two Dockers the week the decide so switch the gameplan up.

This’ll be the team I’m running into Rd16 and aside from the rookie onfield being a huge issue, I feel like the rest of the team is as strong as it can get (pending Ryan, but he’s an easy sideways to any mid).
