I'm pretty attached to us using one of our picks in the 20s on Angus Clarke. Think he will forge a better career at half back than Travaglia. Clarke has the full package and at 190ish cm is a really nice size to both dash / create but also defend a variety of forwards. His also shown he can win it back, as well as take kick ins. He had a few injuries which limited his exposure this year, but he managed a senior game in the SANFL with Glenelg and won his share of the ball despite looking about 70kgs ringing wet. It's a yes please from me Blair

This would be an incredible result for the Saints. Like Lalor, O’Sullivan had an interrupted season with injuries, but he was outstanding in his bottom-age under-18 campaign last year and the best player at the under-16 championships in 2022. O’Sullivan is classy, an excellent runner and marks well for his size. Does he have the same drive as others?

Adelaide may be forced to give up a future second-round pick to move two spots up this year’s draft order as part of a bold play for Victorian midfielder Jagga Smith.
The Crows currently hold pick 4 in next Wednesday’s national draft but have held discussions with North Melbourne about the possibility of trading up to pick 2.
It is believed that the player in Adelaide’s sights is Smith, a prolific ball-winning midfielder who captained Vic Metro at the under-18 national championships.
Rival clubs believe the Crows are fearful that Carlton would select Smith at pick 3 if Adelaide remains at pick 4.
Smith has been arguably the best-performed underage footballer in the country this year, with recruiters describing him as a “bankable” high-end prospect and future AFL captain.
The 18-year-old would add a different dynamic to the Crows’ midfield with his speed and agility.

He averaged 33.3 disposals, 7.9 clearances and 154 ranking points from 12 games for the Oakleigh Chargers in the Coates Talent League this year.
It is understood that Adelaide recently offered North Melbourne pick 4 and two future third-round selections in exchange for pick 2, but the offer was knocked back.
The Kangaroos are believed to be eyeing pick 4 and a future second-round selection to get the deal done.
The pre-draft pick swap window closed last Friday, but clubs are still able to make live trades during the draft.
Richmond is still expected to take midfielder-forward Sam Lalor with the No.1 pick.
North Melbourne has been linked to midfielder Finn O’Sullivan in recent days if it holds on to pick 2, despite long being favoured to select exciting 193cm utility Alix Tauru.

The 2024 AFL Draft prospects tell us who their dream grand final entertainment would be.
If Adelaide was to beat Carlton to Smith, the Blues could nab South Australian Sid Draper.
Carlton coach Michael Voss and list manager Nick Austin flew to Adelaide in the past week to meet with the explosive midfielder.
If North Melbourne was to overlook Tauru at pick 2, he would not be expected to get past Melbourne at pick 5 given the Demons are big fans of the Gippsland Power high-flyer.
Richmond looks almost certain to select big-bodied midfielder Josh Smillie with pick 6, while Brisbane Lions father-son prospect Levi Ashcroft is also expected to receive a bid within the first six picks.


Interesting times ahead.
If Crows move to 2 and get Smith and the Dees take Taru at 5....we could have the option of FOS, Smillie & Langford at 6..

It’s the only plan for that scenario and should be mentioned by the journalist.

Good luck to crows and Roos working that one out, I’m guessing half the clubs won’t be able to trade a 2nd, most of those that have them probably wouldn’t mind holding them in hopes of buying into this draft, plus involving a third party just makes it more complicated.

It's so much nonsense. Does a kid who has spent hours in the car multiple times per week growing up, then gone to boarding school for his footy, and is renowned as an on-field leader who drives his team in big moments, 'have the drive'?

Spare me.

The kid can't wait to get into an AFL system. He was good enough to be drafted last year and has been spinning his wheels, combined with the injuries. He will flourish in a full-time environment.

He's not as intense as Jagga. Mark Waugh was not as intense as Justin Langer.

I agree with Carlton taking FOS, so how is 'no-trade' our best chance of landing FOS? Someone will take him before pick 6. If not Carlton, then Adelaide or Melbourne.

All that would do is further reinforce that Hamish Ogilvie is head and shoulders the worst judge of smalls in the AFL recruitment scene. Jordan Galluci at pick 15. Chayce Jones at 9, Ned McHenry at 16, Will Hamill at 30, Harry Schoenberg at 24, Luke Pedlar at 11, Brayden Cook at 25, Sam Berry at 28, James Rowe at 38, Josh Rachele at 6.

If he picks 'em, it's bad news for them.

I know we are heavily linked to Smillie at 6, but I wonder if that’s because the wide assumption is that FOS/ Draper will be off the board.

Given we are apparently torn on Lalor/FOS- surely we select Finn > Smillie if it comes to that?

And if Blues take FOS at 3 and Draper / Smillie are both available at 6, do we still opt for Smillie?

'No-trade' is referencing an Adelaide and North trade, which Adelaide are reportedly wanting to do to secure Smith.

According to C4, Carlton rate Smith over FOS.

If Adelaide trades with North and takes Smith, then Carlton's next preference is FOS.

If North refuse all trades (they shouldn't, but this dumbass club traded pick 25 in a superdraft for a 28 year old midget when they're in dire need of talls), Smith goes to Carlton and Draper goes to Adelaide.

Draper is an average kick.

Jagga is an excellent kick over 30-40m

The other 4 are, if not elite kicks they’re bloody close to it and all have penetration.

Yze wants excellent kicks, and kicking isn’t a skill that I can think of a player going from being an average kick to becoming excellent kick?

I just don’t see a world where we pick Draper, unless it’s at 10.
