Langford too slow this is why Caddy never made it as a mid we have learnt our lesson and wont be taking this type of player .
The position he’s going in the draft, suggests clubs aren’t worried.
He’s a gun, great sideways movement, one-touch mid with a lethal left foot, and really strong overhead.
Just off the top of my head, a list of players that lacked leg speed but have had great careers
Cripps,
Oliver,
J Kennedy,
Parker,
Lewis,
Hodge,
Cunnington.

Bo Allan watching again this morning he moves really well and is hard at it and tackles like a demon.
Downside is his skills he is too hit and miss by foot and by hand but gosh he looks to be a competitor
Built for contested, finals style football. Has some rough edges ( that’ll improve in AFL system) but when the whips are cracking he won’t let you down.
Easily the best athletic profile of any of the mids imo.

There are Langford > Lalor takes out there, from a couple of people who’ve seen them both, a lot, up close.

Doubtless many others who say different, but it’s a conversation

You forgot to mention the stand out.

Bottomsmelly

Langford has said he's the player that his game is modelled on and it's easy to see it.

It’s a hard call, because we haven’t seen much of Lalor this year.
I’m happy with the Lalor call, based on the huge upside, but would not be disappointed if Langford ends up in the Y&B.
I mean there’s so many great mids and combinations of mids , it feels like we can’t go wrong.
Personally I’ll be happy with a number of different combinations in the top 12.

For sure. I’ll also be balancing my enthusiasm for whoever we pick with nerves about who we don’t.

Appalled that any other clubs get to pick before 20 tbh

Just so I can remove this from my head, no chance Roos do 10/11 & 20/ 23 for 2, given likely other offers & North’s lust for Tauru yeah?

And then the long wait begins, to see if we’ve made the right call.
Melbourne supporters would have been worried early days re Petracca, Brisbane re Rayner etc….
Confident we’ll nail this one, really feels a fail proof draft

Lalor, Smillie and Allan in the middle, there’d be some busted up opposition.

That’s a big midfield, particularly when you add Taranto, Hopper, McAullife to the mix. Although Lalor will play forward a lot and Allan adds a different skill set to the others.

add Lindsay this year some more nimble types the following year and beyond the midfield takes shape for the next decade.

Went to see chargers v stingrays mid season at Frankston one Friday night because my nephew plays for chargers. Remember seeing a kid no.2 for stingrays that looked Paul Deer sized and was too big for the oppo but looked really slow like real slow. Didn’t know at the time it was Langford.
I asked my nephew who he liked in this draft and he had also been a pre season training partner with Ranges before moving to chargers and he said Smillie is easily number 1. I said what about FOS and he said yeah perhaps but doesn’t get a lot of it. Then I asked him about Langford and he said beast at this level but said he is as slow as a wet week.
Langford then got a gig in our vfl and he was miles off the pace to the point I was questioning whether he could actually be drafted. His limited touches were good but was off vfl pace of the game.

Any chance Langford is tanking his draft interviews on purpose because we really wants to play for us at pick 10? 🤣
Lets just say if he is as crazy a richmond fan as been suggested and knowing Richmond have 6,10,11
what would he lose by getting to 1 of these selections ?
worst case he ends up at St Kilda / Melbourne rather than Adelaide / NorF
