Looks a good haul on paper. Did this campaigner do the rest of teams or just us?

I'd take it. We've got holes everywhere and this addresses pretty much all of them if one of the Whitlocks can ruck.

You will probably only use 4 picks them trade other 3 for future 1st rounders
Then you will have 4 first rounders next year aswell

Blair should get shot if he trades #6 and #11 for pick #2 to north who are more willing to sell off pick #2 than we are to get that pick. #6 & #18 is the fair deal in this draft

Eagles #12 & #14 for pick #3 and they were happy to get that
North #6 & #18 is the Fair deal

But Blair is a hard ass and has danced with Brady Rawlings in the past so i would not be surprised if its #11 & #23

I posted this in the trade and free agency thread. This is just my opinion.

We need to get the top 2 players on our board for this rebuild, as long as we aren't giving up more than 6 & 18. Yes the extra player would be handy but id rather pick 2 over 6.

What West Coast did should not be the new standard or expectation.

I'd prefer 10 and 11 or 10 and 18 but if I'm North, why would I accept that? They want Tauru or Armstrong and there's no guarantee either will be there at 10.

Yeah I agree, 6 and 11 is fair. We should get overs for the two later picks we trade out for futures (I assume) anyway.

Really hope the Dees don't swoop. They're always super aggressive with pick swaps. Can see them trying on 5 and 9 for 2 and F1 off Norf.

From a cultural point of view like the idea of pairing good mates a lá mcluggage/berry & Rowell/Anderson to help drive the rebuild long term. Naturally they have to be strong characters and elite talent which is why I see trading up to get FOS & Lalor a really attractive option for max 6 & 18. They will push each other, take ownership of the club collectively and bring the rest along for the ride. Thoughts?

The Bacchus Marsh local battled some injury issues this year, but is a powerful and damaging midfielder-forward who has long tried to model his game on players like Dustin Martin and Jordan De Goey. With Dusty having sailed into retirement, the Tigers could certainly do with another player like that.

Smillie says he’s a born leader, he can change games with his clearance work and he can also go forward and hit the scoreboard. The Tigers identified Smillie and Lalor as two key players of interest very early this year and might be able to secure both.

He’s reliable one-on-one and is a fierce competitor who looks up to Hawthorn’s Will Day. Travaglia could team up nicely with Tom Brown coming out of the Richmond defence in coming years.

A former forward, Trainor has become a strong interceptor who takes the game on. The grandson of football great Doug Wade, he models his game on Tom Stewart but has also drawn some comparisons to Jordan Ridley. Trainor could be a perfect third-tall intercept defender alongside the likes of Noah Balta and Josh Gibcus.

OK, they’re a little bit different, but both bring great speed, creativity and scoreboard impact in the front half, while also being capable of adding a spark during onball rotations. Hotton is unlikely to play again until at least next June, after suffering an ACL injury earlier this year. But he had started this season on fire and is a unique prospect inside the top-20 group. His older brother Olli was drafted to St Kilda in 2022.

Richmond really needs another young key forward, with Jack Riewoldt retired and Tom Lynch nearing the end. Could it be Whitlock? He’s 200cm, is very mobile for his size, has strong hands overhead and kicks goals. The full forward in the Coates Talent League Team of the Year, Whitlock has drawn comparisons to Max and Ben King.

The twin of Jack, Matt is marginally shorter at 198cm but was equally impressive this year. He is a genuine swingman who has featured in key posts at both ends of the ground and is more than happy playing wherever the coach puts him. Like Jack, Matt is mobile, has an exceptional leap and displays strong hands overhead. The twins have said that they expect to be separated and are “ready for that”, but it could be a smart move for the Tigers to keep them together in the hope they become bookends for the next 10 or 12 years.

This will be the first pick of night two of the draft, which is often highly sought-after if a player slips through night one that a club is desperate to secure. However, if the Tigers keep the selection and there are no shock drifters, they should look at a player like Dattoli. A half-forward who can also impact in the midfield, he is a creative ball user who can change the momentum of games. The Tigers have history of drafting players from the Northern Knights and Dattoli is the best the club has to offer this year.

If anything I'd consider training maybe 2 picks for 2025 options to stack our hand next year also.

1 + 6 are definitely keepers for best midfield options.

I'd be using 10 + 11 on Armstrong / Shanahan / Faull. Need at least two KPF options there.


A couple of 18, 20, 23, 24 should be considered for 2025 pick swaps.


Bringing in draftees is great but I'm not sure bringing in 8 at once is a good idea. Might stifle their development and impact their exposure at AFL level. Possibly better to spread them out over 2 years.

Really cooling on the pick 2 upgrade now. If we got Lalor, Smilie, Armstrong, Trainor, Travaglia with the first 5 that's insane. Bearing in mind we will no doubt whatsoever get first crack at Sharp next year.
Either use the rest of the R1 picks to get juicy F1 pick upgrades or grab some more high quality kids with speed.

I don't understand why so many people are keen for us to trade out multiple early picks for pick 2. Given the evenness of this draft pool, the difference between pick 2 and 6 is minimal. We did an incredible job bringing in two (or more) early picks for exiting players so we could replace them with a collection of potential stars rather than one. Why give that up? This is not a draft with a standout five like many other drafts. It a draft of even, high end talent and with more picks we should take full advance of that.

Norf won't drop back further than pick 6 as they want Taura.

I don't expect a trade until draft night as norf will want to be sure Taura is going to get through to 6 before they pull the trigger.

If they are sure they'll likely take 23 as the extra pick for the downgrade.

On balance, I don’t think it is fair, not in this draft.
Take a future second back as a minimum. Also bear in mind that they will be pretty keen to trade it out, as they’ve left themselves extremely bereft of picks in a strong draft. I’ll be very surprised if Blair trades 6 and 11 for 2.

Yep Rawlings tried to take him down on the CCJ trade. Look how that's worked out for norf.
