Trainor at 21 would be well worth the risk. Barrat is very versatile.
Very worried about Trainor. I'll let the club make the decision (nice of me I know). Multiple concussions is major issue. Especially for a teenager.

A lot of good players available this year. So we can pick for talent and list structure.

Looks like a star, RATD alerted me to it but his testing results are incredible,
4th in the agility whilst at 191cm is elite. 4th in standing vertical jump, 3rd behind FOS in running vertical jump, 2.99 in the 20m sprint. Serious leadership qualities too. Defensive minded.
FFS! 95% of draft combine record holders never play a single senior game. Nothing more irrelevant than combine results

You mean the 1 game FOS played at state level where he picked up a corkie and still finished with 83% disposal efficiency, 6 score involvements, and 2 goals from 3 scoring shots?
Yes that game where Jagga gifted him half of his possessions and gave him a gift running goal. Same as in the Richmond ressies game.

Cal also metnioned we are one of the likely teams to bid on kako at picks 10/11 and we are a good chance to take a small forward at one of those picks. Berry, Hannaford, Hotton, Datolli?

Jaspar Alger is better than all those. Don't be surprised if he is the one we pick albeit 10 & 11 would be early.

Or watching, it seems.

Stupid take . He's played WAFL seniors for the premiers, and looked fantastic in the championships. That's the baseline... he can play footy. Development can occur after a player is drafted.... Combine results matter because his type of athletic profile can be anything.

How on earth could you interpret that otherwise?

Trade 10 for 13 and 29 from Port, creating a 3-way trade to facilitate : 11, 13, 29 and a F4 for 2 and a F1 - Roos are desperate.

They need KPP’s … 11,13,29 gets them two or three of Tauru, Trainor, Armstrong, Shanahan, Faull, Dodson, Whitlock’s. They can’t keep waiting on KPP’s … no free agents want to go there and no quality players want to be traded there … it’s the draft of bust for KPP’s and they can’t afford to wait another year to get started developing them.

Clarko is desperate and the Roos will cave - it may not be to us but they’ll drop their pants in a trade for pick-2.

If that Dyson Alexander vid has any truth to it then we should trade out 10 for both future 1st tied to Saints and Essendon.

Much better result than 13&29 and allows us to only consider trading 24 for whatever the best offer is.

Go to draft with 1,6,11,18,20,23,24 (trade 24) and setup 2025 with 3 future top 10 picks ✔️✔️✔️

That's an extremely short term outlook for a player we will likely have for 5+ years.

It is but I think when you have 4 guys coming back from ACLs, another from back to back long term injuries, and a couple other injury prone players, you have to be careful.

I’m hoping that our picks 1,6,10 & 11 will be pushing for AFL selection in round 1 or early in the season. This will help prevent us wasting AFL experience on more mature/experienced players that don’t deserve it.

I’d hate for us to be gifting games to the likes of Sonsie or Dow because we have injuries, only to see them delisted later in the season.

The risk of repeat serious injury should also be a reason for us not to consider him so high. If he slides to 18/20 and there’s not someone else close in our ratings on the board I have no issue. I just think at pick 11 there’s still some pretty serious talent to choose from and Hotton has only shown form over a short period prior to a serious injury.

We literally hired someone who specialises in knees and ACL prevention...

It's not great...

2. Lalor
7. Smillie
13. Trainor
14. Shanahan
21. Hynes
23. Dodson
27. M.Whitlock
I just cant see a world in which we go for Trainor. Not a genuine KPD, elite kick our of the back half, sounds like Brown to me.

Swap Trainor for Berry or similar and looks much better.
Swap Dodson for a speedy type also
