Mock drafts where we don't trade for pick 2 continue to be horrible.

I need you "let's hold our picks" people to wake up and understand where our list is at.
We need top end talent as we just lost 95% of ours.

I still think we make the trade for pick 2 on draft night but if we don't, we've fumbled the bag horribly.

Lalor & Smillie isnt horrible.

We arent trading in pick 2 without pick 6 going out the door thats why i want to hold.

I'm happy to make a play for pick 2 but its going to have to be picks past 10, i doubt that North wants that, so to say we have fumbled the bag if that doesnt happen is way off the mark.

Anything past pick 10 in a mock draft I'm not even interested in, its going to be way off.

I wouldnt be too unhappy with

#1 - Law La
#6 - Smelly
#10 - Reid
#11 - Allan

3 big mids
1 shane edwards like

Personally I don't mind it. We need help all over the park and if we can get our spine sorted in 1 draft it makes things a lot easier moving forward.

Heading into 2025 our under 26 ruck KPP stocks are:
KPD - Young Miller Balta Blight Gibcus
KPF - Lefau Koschitzke Bauer(more 3rd tall) Gray Fawcett
Ruck - Ryan Hayes-Brown Colina

Balta and Gibcus are the only 2 I have any real confidence in as long term options. So why not add a genuine KPF in Shanahan, KPD in Trainor, Ruck in Dodson & Swingman in Whitlock and give ourselves every chance of unearthing long term players.
Typically I agree with your takes but when it's come to this draft we could not be more diametrically opposed.

Don't sign me up to taking 3 key position players, that are overrated due to overwhelming demand and a lack of key positional depth in this draft.
  • Armstrong in the top 10 is a massive reach he can't play up the ground and has played for teams with dominant midfields his entire junior career.
  • Shanahan is a 3rd tall
  • The Whitlocks have more bust potential than boom, they are RAW.
  • Dodson is a ruck from SA, they take years, and they are cheap as chips to get in the trade market.
  • Trainor has a history of concussions

This draft is deep in quality, but not in key position players

I'd much rather at 12&13 two of Reid, Allan, Lindsay, Hotton, Berry or potentially one of the bigger names slides
I'm with you on all of that.

Dees unlikely to take a KPF with their 2nd pick, hope we don't take Armstrong either, very inconsistent with his contested marking.

I'd spew if we took Smillie ahead of Shanahan, who's probably one of the best contested marks in the whole draft, not to mention his other attributes.

Yze said he wants elite kicks, we would have Lindsay, Berry and Oliver quite high on our board, best kicks in the draft. No way we'd take a 3rd tall and a young bloke who's 1 concussion away from being in the "red zone"

There's a gaping hole on our list for a competitive, strong and skillful ruck/forward, Sims or Gerreyn fit that bill

despite the lack of quality I think it'll be counter-intuitive to have too many talls on the list at the same time. I think you can only play 2 or 2 1/2 KPF and 2 KPD at the same time, and I think Lynch will be remain on the list for another 2 years as well. We need to take talls that we believe in and think will be afl standard not quantity in the hope one pops. Talls are unlike mids, small forwards and half backs that can be shuffled around

Lalor and O’Sullivan

Or

Lalor and Smilie

At the end of last year, I would be saying do everything to make top outcome happen.

Up to the middle point of the year, I would be saying, both would be outstanding outcomes.

I’m currently saying, both would be outstanding outcomes. I’m obviously a FOS fanatic and would prefer the first option no doubt, but enough to lose another vital pick? Depends which pick I suppose.

It’s interesting that Norf have spoken to Reid, Travaglia, Berry and Bo Allan in the last week. That I know of.

They aren’t taking them at 2. Not at 6 either.

Lots to play out.

North will trade F1 if there is a seller.

Which 1 slides to pick #62 ?

Looks a bit like going shopping for a Ferrari with $1800 in your pocket

I would pass if it involves pick 6.

but if somehow, someway they get desperate and we can do 10/11 + 20 for example we would be crazy not to.

not sure why they would do a deal like that but you never know!

Thanks. I hate it.

Stupid take . He's played WAFL seniors for the premiers, and looked fantastic in the championships. That's the baseline... he can play footy. Development can occur after a player is drafted.... Combine results matter because his type of athletic profile can be anything.

How on earth could you interpret that otherwise?
His WAFL seniors form was underwhelming. Davis looked a lot better at senior level and won’t go inside the top 40. Suggest you be careful saying it’s a stupid take as confident I would know better than you

I don't think there's a seller under pick 15, which is doubtful too.

I don't think the Dogs would trade their only pick at 17. Pick 18 is still in the 2nd tier sweet spot and I hope that we wouldn't look at North's F1 until we got to 20. Sydney could bite with 19.

yeh the only one i can see is GWS at pick 16, if guys they like are already taken. It would be a complete non starter for west coast and port

North wants either 6 & 10 or 6 & 11 for 2 and F1. No way would I be happy giving up those 2 picks for FOS. I'd rather 3 of Smith Smille Reid Langford Armstrong Allan Travaglia Shanahan Lindsay Hotton.

Cal mentioned Adelaide willing to trade up to pick 2 for North. Only way I'd see it is if Adelaide trade pick 4 and their Future 1st to North for pick 2 and North's future 1st. (Both teams then back themselves in next year)

Adelaide must have eyes on FOS for them to do it.

Now wouldn't that upset a few posters in here?
No because we would get him 1 year later
Crows would return us Finn and we give them access to dyson sharp

That's fine. No opinion is 100% right or wrong.

I've been strong on getting in KPP/Ruck talent with our later picks if they are best available at that pick. Mostly that has been due to where the talent is landing in various big boards. Midfielders at the top of the draft and tall players deeper in the pool.

As much as I'd love to see the likes of Koschitzke Gray Fawcett Ryan Miller Blight & Young become long term options I'm not that confident in any of them. So go and get some highly rated kids and bring them in and start the process of developing them while we've still got Lynch and Nankervis there to help teach them.
