Quality article, highly recommend. Someone in the AFL industry talking about how to incorporate data and evaluate player quality in both a player recruitment sense and match day environment

Brilliant article.

If I were to hazard a guess then it would be Glen Luff (ex 15+ years at champion data) originally at North as the interviewee, I think he's now part of the Bloos list management team. Proper guru with regard to analytics.

Fascinating insight re Jagga, what I find more pertinent though is the statement about players that are being touted as high draft picks and that they wouldn't have them anywhere near there.

Who are those players?

Travaglia?
Armstrong?
Tauru?
Allan?
Reid?

Wondering if Colina can still be classified as a Cat B rookie for a 5th year since they made the change back in August that allows for rookies with under 10 games to get extra eligibility. If that was the case then we would still re-draft him as promised.

Would see the list become:
28 senior listed
6 Cat A rookies
2 Cat B rookies

Leaving the 8 spots to be filled at the draft as Yze was suggesting would happen in the video yesterday.
Tylar Young is already 26?????
Needs to change his name to Tylar Oldcodger

Unless a DFA is added and/or SSP. Got a feeling the Naismith experience will leave em gun shy. RFC loves the SSP draft.

Knobel in the DFA or draft Whitlock

The thing with Lalor and Smillie is that they will both be super dangerous resting forward.

As much as I've always wanted FOS, and have been off Smillie given his "limp" arms, if we get those 2 we have two beastly midfielders that are huge forward threats too.

The hard part is, can you build a midfield with Ross, McAuliffe, Lalor, Smillie, as well as Hopper and Taranto? Where is the speed? Would really love to somehow get Jagga too...

Won't be the only draft where we get first crack at a top mid. We aren't going anywhere for a few seasons

Ok I know everyone loves my posts and keen to get my expert opinion so here's my list wish and if you don't agree youre 100% wrong and a failure.

1. Want Lalor ... Not FoS
2. Don't trade up for pick 2
3. Smillie or Smith, hopefully one is on the board at our 2nd pick
4. Really want Lindsay
5. Jack Whitlock
6. Alex Dodson
7. Trade one pick into 2025 first round draft

Don't need Dodson if we take Whitlock as a ruck/forward.

Berry instead of Dodson

7th pick to go on Oliver

8th pick, take or trade, depending on Colina's situation

I think Blair is playing this beautifully.

Everyday there’s no trade, every day the desperation by all teams wanting some of our picks increases and thus the deals they offer improve for us.

Blair is becoming a club legend!
I don't disagree with the sentiment, but trading of picks came to an end on friday afternoon last week and wont re open until draft night!

I still agree he has played it well though.

Why on earth would we retain Colina, he has been even more useless than the human statue.
I think a lot of this came down to how we managed his injury as a club.

Apparently we managed his back very very poorly and he was not impressed at all.

I think with the change of fitness staff we owe it to him and ourselves to give him a proper crack at seeing what he can do.

for the games he played I actually thought he showed some good progression. we just need him out there more often to see him grow.

Maybe a new type of future lawsuit - compensation for being Meehaned!
