Pick the best players … ignore the ‘go home’ factor.

Especially a strong club like ours.

They do don’t they. Nothing gets out.

A very good mate of mine, his nephew works closely with Blair, the prick won’t say boo, flat bats everything straight back. The only info he gave us earlier this season was he was constantly heading up to watch the bushrangers

Good to know, or not know.

I’d like to know, but not anyone else.

Loose lips.

From that ESPN article.

10. Josh Smillie (8)
Eastern Ranges/Vic Metro
MID, 195cm
National Champs: 4 games, 18.8 disposals, 5.8 clearances, 3.5 tackles
Talent League: 12 games, 25.5 disposals, 4.8 clearances, 1.3 goals

Smillie has the potential to be the best player from this draft. At 195cm he could become one of the tallest midfielders in the competition, where he's an inside brute that rips the ball out of stoppages and moves it forward with a booming kick. But he doesn't move around the ground well enough right now to be a midfielder and needs to use his height to advantage in the air. What Smillie is, and what he could become, are too far apart to be confident he reaches his ceiling.

Best traits similar to: Tom Green

I can’t work out why Smillie is sliding from 8 to 10 in this espn draft?

Says he has potential to be best in class but slots him behind Lindsay and Travaglia? Not like either has a better season than Smillie, averaged 25 and a goal at Coates, and was captain and probably best player of 2 afl academy vs vfl games, the other 2 had better champs, his were just okay.

Writes it off as difference between what he is and what he might be are too far apart?? Even if he doesn’t reach that ceiling he’s already starting from a higher base than Lindsay or Travaglia with way higher scope.

It’s just strange how as Smillie has become the odd man out in this draft. I wonder if he’d had a crack at vfl he would be in contention for 1.

Get back to arguing for days over a couple of centimeters in height ya dog.
Sounds like you've accepted the notion that size doesn't matter

Because we're not the ones desperate to deal, so if we're going to do anything with them, that helps them solve their own mess, then it should only be in a way where we benefit greatly. If not then take the picks we currently have to the draft, get the best 7 players we can and auction off 24 to the highest bidder and stockpile picks for 2025.
Norf are going to have to take unders given the shit sandwich they have put themselves in. Might not be from us, but they will have to do something.

I feel like that's such a narrow way to view this situation.
Just because we have a good hand now, doesn't mean it can't get better.

But hey, maybe I'm wrong. I guess that's a possibility.

He started well and then faded a bit at the back end of the season, think he was battling illness and might've had a few niggles that contributed. Maybe clubs are scared off by his running capacity and transition work given how much emphasis is on structure, pressure and transition etc, given that he is being jumped by guys like Travaglia and Lindsay who are runners. But you can find those role players in the back end of the drafts to cover the deficiencies of the star/impact players

Lalor
Draper
Langford
Reid
Tauru
Armstrong
Lindsay
Berry
Hotton
Whitlock (J)
Datolli
Hynes
Faull
Gerryn

We are a good shot at getting 8 of the above 14 IMO.

Any combo of the above would be delicious.

Travaglia ahead of Smillie is absolutely stupid

As it gets closer these are the players that are continuously being linked to us
1-Lalor
6-Smillie
10-TBC....
11-Jack Whitlock
18-Trainor
20's-Dodson.

Looks to be high risk reward drafting.
All have very high ceilings yet come with quite a few questions. Nothing about these selections screams safe.

Listening to the latest episode of Gettable , Cal Twomey is standing by his early assessment of Langford, being the best ( or at least top 3) in this year’s draft.
The best judge in the land , that’s good enough for me.

Feel like I am taking crazy pills when people aren't saying he is top 5.

Its a far distant make believe world, but man that would be hilarious.
Not out of the realms and I feel like it’s probably what we ultimately want. I would say Allen is our Smillie back-up plan at 10, and J.Whitlock is our backup plan to Armstrong.

Tigers FOS @1
North Tauru @2
Carlton Draper @3
Crows Jagga @4
Melbourne Langford @5
Tigers Lalor @6
Saints Allen @7
Saints Reid @8
Melbourne Armstrong @9
Tigers Smillie @10
Tigers J.Whitlock @11
