Look I agree it’s not impossible, but heck me that would be insane.

I couldn’t see Carlton adding another inside mid so Draper might suit them.

Crows might really like Jagga and Melbourne might really want Langford and Lalor might be too similar to their current mid group.

I can’t work out why Smillie is sliding from 8 to 10 in this espn draft?

Says he has potential to be best in class but slots him behind Lindsay and Travaglia? Not like either has a better season than Smillie, averaged 25 and a goal at Coates, and was captain and probably best player of 2 afl academy vs vfl games, the other 2 had better champs, his were just okay.

Writes it off as difference between what he is and what he might be are too far apart?? Even if he doesn’t reach that ceiling he’s already starting from a higher base than Lindsay or Travaglia with way higher scope.

It’s just strange how as Smillie has become the odd man out in this draft. I wonder if he’d had a crack at vfl he would be in contention for 1.

Yep, we are talking a mid who could end up Bont/ Cripps height, has a lethal left foot, is very good overhead, and above average endurance.
And that’s on top of a brilliant season at Coates and Nationals.

King's issue seems to be competitiveness/2nd efforts etc. If Whitlock is like a competitive King he'll be a much better player.

I feel like that's such a narrow way to view this situation.
Just because we have a good hand now, doesn't mean it can't get better.

But hey, maybe I'm wrong. I guess that's a possibility.

Not wrong, but I think your fixation on getting FOS is clouding your view on the draft. In an ideal world landing Lalor & FOS at 1 & 2 would be great if they're clearly ranked the 2 best players in the pool.

For mine, FOS alone isn't as good as 1 of Draper Langford Smith Smillie Reid and 1 of Armstrong Travaglia Tauru Trainor Allan Shanahan Hotton Lindsay Whitlocks Dodson Berry Faull and the like that we'd lose by trading out one of the picks from 10-20, that North would want to give up 2

Cannot see any way North take Tauru at no.2.

They will either go Lalor or FOS because they are half forward/mids which they could use, or deem it more necessary to go for a back, Tauru.

They will get Taura at 6 no problem, and will get say our pick 20, so an extra very good type.
It would make zero sense to reach for Tauru at 2.

We would be daft to turn down 6 and 20 for 2 given how many many picks we have.
