I'd be looking to do a deal with adelaide, have a feeling given their draft position, that pick 4 is in play. Id do something like 4 and a late pick for 11 and 20/23. Imagine going to the draft with 1,4,6,10,18,20,24 plus a late one! You'd get 3 of the top mids, whitlock at 11 and whatever you want with 18/20/24 and most importantly you’re not overpaying. Lalor, Draper Smilie holy shit

Really warming to picking up Hynes, in the 20s.
I think he’s possibly got as much upside as any player outside the top dozen.
Most of the good sides have dynamic small/medium forwards who are a nightmare for opposition backs to matchup on.
Hynes could begin his career as a powerful medium forward, and then progress into the midfield.
Pity we didn’t get to see him at the combine, would have loved to know his 20m time
Jack Nicholson Yes GIF

Feel like we'd have to do 18 or 20 for Essendon pick. 24 you'd think would be a team that plays finals.
Guess it depends if anyone before 24 sells a pick to them

Not a particularly surprising call given he wasn't invited to night 1

I really hope we take him with one of our 20’s picks. He was running the day after his most recent concussion FFS. Could be the best KPP from this draft and an amazing steal for the club who takes him. And he’s not just a KPD, he played plenty of juniors up forward.

Without his concussion he’d have been a top-10 lock and edging top-5. So unless there’s significant medical evidence he’s a big long-term risk if roll the dice on him as upside is massive.

Looks like Norf two games in Tassie next year vs us and lions.

So including WA games, that’s at least 3 home games where they’ll feel like the away side and 1 vs premier.

Please please please get their F1 Blair.

Sad Please Please Please GIF by myHQ
rather play norf in tassie than stale stadium with the roof

Not sure about that - aggression is very instinctual and you see it from a young age - it cannot be taught. It does evolve but I find that the players that aren't aggressive in juniors dont suddenly become aggressive players in seniors
Yeah we have seen it over and over again with guys like Corey Ellis and Josh Schace never managed to get that campaigner needed to become serious afl players

Some players do turn it on like we saw with Hugo over the past few years but could argue his issue wasn’t so much aggression but more a reluctance to put his body on the line

Than you have the campaigners like Mansell who absolutely love the physical stuff

I say get the Whitlock twins in, both of the bastards. They will always have high trade value if we don't want them.

LOL. Talking of trade value before a kid has even been selected. This board gone completely headless now.

The only issue here, is he doesnt play like KPP.

Allan 11 touches a game at WAFL level just worries me so much
He's an excellent athlete, average footballer. I can see the appeal but it's banking on him improving in a lot of footy specific areas that others in the draft around that mark are already well advanced on.

I would just like to post Smillie's combine results that i found on another site thanks to (lidss)

  • Ran a 3.08 20m which stacks up well against similar guys like Bont and Cripps who were both 3.2+.
  • Ran 8.391 agility which I think was better than what Jagga did? (could be wrong) who should've had him covered here with his body type.
  • Ran a very solid 6:38 2km on a tough day where most of them ran slower times.
    [*]7th in standing vertical

Add to all that the fact that he's a very natural footballer and not just some athlete. Clean hands and one touch at the contest, finds the ball with ease and kicks goals. Also uses the ball well and anyone that thinks he doesn't is objectively wrong. His kicking is one of his strengths.

Get 3-4 pre seasons into all this + proper AFL level training and who knows what could become of this kid ? I agree its a little bit of a risky pick but imo his ceiling is on mars if he can put it all together.

People are making up knocks on him.
He’s not aggressive in a Lalor way, but he is very physical in a contest. His tackles stick, he stands up when being tackled and using strength usually gets a good disposal away. Doesn’t look urgent sometimes but has poise, with good side steps, back steps and lateral movement, and decision making is excellent. As you say clean hands and polished disposal, kicks goals regularly. Disposal counts when fit high 20s low 30s, that have impact. Had some injury and illness issues around the nationals.

In this clip he takes a couple of contested marks using his size to advantage. Not pack marks as I’ve commented earlier, but marking in general is sound. Athleticism overall is very good.
Some prefer what they see in others, that’s fine, but for me @6 yes, @10 would be a steal.
