Dont worry Mich, im sure we'll trade for some Saints dud that Macrae is replacing on their list. 💅

Question our ability to even bring in duds at the moment.

Won’t surprise me if potential draftees even tell us indirectly they don’t want to join the dees during interviews.

Have heard from a few people now that Hunter was given a three year deal—not two—when he first came over, meaning he'd be contracted until the end of 2025. Would make sense as to why he's not on the AFL's free agency list.

Those who are seemingly pining for his delisting may have to wait a while.

Another excessive contract???? That's not the Melbourne I know.

Given the lack of news about him, you are probably on the money. I can only see where he had 2 years remaining at the bulldogs. But nothing mentions the length of deal signed at Melbourne. So perhaps he added an additional year.

To be fair, I think a lot of people forget he was more than serviceable last year, just couldn't get his body right this year (+ the rumoured off field stuff). Can't imagine he's on much coin though. Original deal at Dogs was $600k per, guessing we probably stretched that over the third year.

The people that mainly rag on him are those that seem to have a loyalty to the flag side – Hunter is an easy one to target for our drop-off.

Yeah, as above, quite possibly stretched due to our cap at the end of 2022 being tighter than what it is now.

Think the main giveaway is that he's not on any of the AFL's FA lists, which he'd be eligible for if he was indeed OOC.

Dogs were paying part of his contract. Ludicrous to give him an extra year with all the red flags around him.

Don't think the FA thing is true. You need 8 years at a club to be a FA.

If he's delisted he would become a DFA though.

Think he qualified for FA at the Dogs, which subsequently extends for any future contracts:

I was intentionally overreacting, its too much fun to give this club shit for everything like Mich haha. I think Hunter is a good player when fit and he should absolutely be in the side.

So if I understand correctly, once a FA always a FA and you're a FA regardless of whether or not you're in contract when you pass the 10 year threshhold even when you join another club? But also if a player did 7 years at one club then 3 years at another they wouldn't be a FA?

AFL rules are as clear as mud.

Surely there was an article from when we traded him that says how long we contracted him for that can clear this up.

Oh I figured, haha. I know you like Hunter.

Just find it funny how many 'leave our boys alone' types (DL in particular) have a huge hate boner for Hunter. He's fringe/depth and is fine in that role.

Obviously the rumoured off-field stuff clouds things, but if he's fit, he's a solid player.

I....guess so? Lol, I'm a bit confused by it all too.

Don't bother looking for the article, I already did and got precisely nothing lol.

Hasn't been round long enough to be declared one of us and hes easy to blame for all the clubs off field issues instead of pointing the finger at the nuffies hero Clayton Oliver. .

Also heard he was a bit ticked off at the club for mismanaging his calf injury, but that's nothing new for our current FD/HP teams.

That bald spud saved me $1,500 in my tipping comp, I pray everyday at the alter of Zak Jones don't you worry
I won about that in a supercoach league a few years back, all I could afford to trade in for an injury was Daniel Nicholson. He scored a mighty 40 odd points in a tight grand final victory... Best Melbourne Demon ever.
