That's a massive fall for Marshall who some have him top 15
It’s the Clubs opinions that really matter though not the draft experts.
We never really get the clubs thoughts on these things until draft night.

I stated earlier in this thread, Carlton may want to preserve the optics of them getting the 3rd best player. While also not paying such a premium for a player “inferior” to Ashcroft, who we will get for cents in the dollar comparatively.

Marshall I think will go earlier than 30 though, strike me as a player some team / scout will love and willing to go earlier than expected on. Knowing we will match any reasonable bid, a team could also look to buy an additional 5 minutes also.

Over on the draft board, someone mentioned Subiaco medium defender Galen Sivagni as a potential mature age draftee, after he just won the club best and fairest. I went hunting for more information and found this tweet from earlier in the year.

Should be noted that Woodcock was spot on about Kentfield, he did go to Melbourne. Maybe we were planning to go for Sivagni but then Beecken fell to us and we grabbed him instead?

Been offline for a few weeks, not going to read through all I missed.... what's the latest gossip on my boy Ty Gallop, we going to get him next week along with Baby Ashcroft and The Marshall?

think one of the top 2027 prospects from academy might be off to boarding school in Vic as well.

Big tall sucker or one of the considerably shorter than him names?

According to Fish, yes we are, but who knows if that's the reality or if the club is using misinformation to increase the chance of getting our real target. This is a deep draft after all, and maybe someone we like falls a lot.

Not sure the misinfo value of Fish talking on a non-official lions podcast!

Just have to wait until the CTL U16 lists are out.

I await in eager anticipation.

Also, fingers crossed for a Sruktacular season from the Eastern Ranges' U16 boys next year.

Cal Twomey's Phantom Form Guide: Top draft prospects' November ranking

1. Levi
Where does he go? Off to the Lions as a father-son, the matter now is where the bid comes. It is not expected to be at Richmond at No.1, with Carlton (No.3) or Adelaide (No.4) considered the likely bidders.
23. Marshall
Where does he go? Off to the Lions as an Academy player, where he will fight for a spot in their premiership midfield unit. A bid for Marshall appears likely to come in past pick No.20, with Sydney linked as a possible bidder with one of its two first-rounders.

You would imagine Levi will spend a lot of time playing small forward or half forward.

Then at next year's draft we potentially have a couple of academy kids who can play as a genuine small forward such as Raphael Geesu, or are a smaller mid that might have to adapt their game to play up forward such as Ben Lillico.
If he is as good or has a similar talent level to Will, wouldn't he play a similar amount of mid time?

For all the criticism (I cant comment if its right or wrong) it is interesting that we do keep pumping out the most academy candidates.

I know we cant get them all so I really hope that some other clubs pick up some of these kids
From my perspective, there’s a bit of gamesmanship by the club here.

We clearly can’t match all of them, and have no intention of matching bids on the majority of them, so why nominate them in the first place.

Port have four father sons in this draft, but have only nominated one of them.

Every Northern club would have 30 odd draft eligible kids in their academies each year, but most of the time, clubs only nominate the kids they plan to actually match on.

I know for the Lions, everyone of “our” kids has been included in our 2025 academy as overagers, with the exception of Richardson as he’s 19 this year, so maybe it’s a condition of including them as overagers, is that they have to go through the draft, and be passed over.
