Brownlow 2024 Brownlow Medal

Yep - it totally devalues the medal. He was a worthy winner, but scoring 3 votes multiple times in a losing team is a joke.
I not suggesting anything untoward from the umpires, but really need to question umpire unconscious bias in voting, particularly when we have so many poor umpires running around currently.

Tradition says the brownlow is voted on by umpires. It’s time to have a rethink. Tradition says that this is the most prestigious individual award in our game. If it’s going to remain that way it’s time to hand over voting to a broader cohort. Include umpires. Add coaches. Add respected former players from each team or media.

I’m not outraged, but it is currently the AFL Logies.

This YouTube channel is great with AUS Rules football history and analysis. Here he suggests an alternative voting system. He’s also got several other Brownlow videos, as well as videos like “what if every proposed merger ever happened?”.

Listening to Whately interview Weitering today n they were saying no AA backs got a brownlow vote.....but one Harris Andrews managed to get a few. Please explain AA panel? Lukoluko.

The player who did the retirement speech was completely honest about the struggles post afl. Was actually petty tough to listen to.

Same for all elite athletes. They are a different breed with brains so focused on competition and winning the average world must be so grey to them.

Just look at mitch robbos post footy life. He is not thriving. And the brain scan results and other limiting injuries must make it even more difficult.

Had the unfortunate to listen to Gerard Healy tonight on SEN online bang on about how Jeremy McGovern is the best defender by a mile in the league and the best defender in the league for the past 5-10 years.
