I guess strategically going to the worst side makes it easier to get a game?

Tozer is at Norwood and Tasker did play 1 senior game for Westies this year I think. (edit: google says he is at North Adelaide and has managed 1 x senior game in 2 years)

Tozer is a walking shoulder injury though, he did have some top end talent.

It's just the trade-off of going to the strongest competition. Going to be harder to get games

SANFL is the strongest competition outside the AFL in my view.

Not the worst move, as if you can go there and shine, then it will be noticed as a 19 year old ruck.

Given he was on the list of overage academy players though, obviously he got some news or advice he didn't like.
It’s going to be very hard for any of our over agers to get picked up in next year’s draft, unless they slide to the back end or rookie draft, and get picked up that way.

List squeeze and what looks like at least one good prospect each year, for the next few drafts, is going to make it harder to match on the second or third rated kid.

Correct me if I'm wrong, don't we have quite a few players coming off contract next year? Plus the possibility of Zorko, Lester or Linc retiring.

I think it’s more the points system.
If we have one quite highly rated kid, it is going to make it very hard to match a second unless they are bid on very late or make it to the Rookie draft.

Without looking myself, how many of those out of contract guys do you want to keep?

And what Dalions said.

Most of them, but I'd probably be happy to move on from Craven, Fort, Dev, Torrent and Tunstill unless they have great seasons.

I'd keep Fort for one more year to be honest. He's the mature ager depth we need until Henry establishes himself alongside Big O. If we still had Lane I'd have let Fort go but now that the next rung depth isn't there, Fort sticking around is fine by me.

Entirely possible Smith establishes himself this year.

“Look, we had him at No. 1 or 2 and that was where we thought he’d go.
“But we can't control what other clubs think or the reason as to why he went so late.

While Ashcroft hasn’t been able to join full training yet due to off-season shoulder surgery, the Lions have seen enough from him during past trips of the club to know they’ve got a player on their hands.

Hopefully some of those mids and flankers have or do grow another few cm from those measurements.

Also would be great if that under 16 year come on strong with the key position players. Good to mix it up after a few years of strong mid style players

It's concerning if we won't be able to match them all due to how many extra picks Tasmania get though.
