I don't mind going to a suburban dog track, it's that i can't book anything until i know i can score tickets to that game which in the meantime the airlines up prices and so do hotels while i'm forced to wait till release of tickets.

If i do it's looking like it's going to be a road trip which really will be heaps cheaper due to possibly 4 people in the car and the fuel costs being split 4 ways. And with a car we can find a caravan park out of town a bit and lodge there for a night or two.
I don’t mind either. We’ve gone to AO enough over the last 10 or so years. Feels like we play there twice every year. A suburban ground would actually be nice for once. As long as it doesn’t become a regular thing like it is for some smaller clubs.

Thing is, the timeslot is a C7 primetime game with a 3:20pm start here in vic and pies/hawks get the graveyard foxtel slot.

Would have preferred to play one of the Adelaide teams, means we get that game out of the way. Now the AFL will make us play one if not both Adelaide teams in Adelaide on top of gather round.

Yeah like last year. No non-Adelaide side has played at AO more than us. We’ve played there 20 times since its inception in 2014.

I don’t expect that to stop

Our year by year appearances home and away only

1-2-1-2-2-2-1-1-2-3 for a total of 18 ( we have played 2 finals for the 20 times )

compare with Carlton for example

1-0-0-1-1-1-0-1-1-1 for a total of 7

Shows how good we really were compared to Bloooooze who are only just now starting to come good. Don't get me started on Pies. Those campaigners want a royal commission when given any interstate fixture.

Round 0 vs Gold Coast up there. What a weird start to the season, but up for something different. Of course they pit Dimma against us early.
It’s so weird to start off the season with a split round

At least we are one of the teams playing, means we get another bye later in the season so that could work out better getting two weeks off during the season instead of just starting a week later and only getting one bye rest week during the year

Going to make the ladder a shitshow with teams all over the place with some sides having played more games than others until everyone have played the same amount of games

In case no one has realised, the reaming from the AFL has started.

Gold Coast away and then a 5 day break into the thursday game against Carlton

That's now on top of getting dumped on a suburban dog track for gather round.

Hope everyone is prepared for Kardinia Park as well.

Touched on it in my post above but playing in this first round is a good thing

Means an extra bye week during the year that is better for player management over just starting a week later

5 day break isn’t an issue these days either
Seen players saying they actually prefer 5 day breaks over the longer ones

Only if that bye is before or after our wednesday night anzac eve game ditto the dees.

But knowing the AFL the dees will get a bye and we will play the sat night before anzac eve. \

Actually OMG we won't play the weekend after anyway due to Anzac eve being part of anzac round. So our bye is going to be before this.

Oh wow we are going to have such a stop start beginning to the year. Feels like it's a mess without seeing the fixture in full.
