START We start from Prati dello Stelvio . Here is the statement released a few minutes ago:
“Yesterday the Extreme Weather Protocol Commission met to decide on the conditions of today's stage.
In the minutes, signed by all those present which we attach, three options were envisaged. The first era – Normal Stage Progress
The second era – As agreed with RCS upon request of the CPA, the following three vehicles will distribute raincoats/thermal clothing to runners who request them, to provide further support to the runners: a. Car broom – b. Race Management Car n° 3 – c. Race Direction Car n° 4. A parking area will be created on the top of Giogo di Santa Maria (after 50.2KM) to give runners the opportunity to change clothing. The race will be neutralized for 3 minutes. This action will be in force in the climb of the Giogo di Santa Maria before or at the 40th kilometer.
The third era – In case of extreme weather conditions, the stage will be neutralized until a place where safety conditions are met.
At 9 am the Commission met and at 10 am, given the conditions at that moment, decided to implement Option 2 with the opposition of the athletes.
A few minutes before the start, the weather conditions worsened further and therefore the Commission decided to fall back on Option 3.
The stage will have its start and typical procedures in Livigno. From there we will start a parade towards the Munt Raschera Tunnel. The runners will stop and change before the border with Switzerland.
The real start will be in Prati allo Stelvio as per the timetable". ENDS

Another interesting stat... last night Pog matched the Giro record (previously held by Merckx), of winning 5 stages while wearing pink. Pog has won 6 stages, but wasn't wearing pink when he won the first of them.
