I don't get all the love for Sydney. It was only a one goal difference to Carlton who just beat Melbourne who just lost to us. It doesn't work like that obviously but maybe I am overlooking them.

Not sure I understand this post.
You query why some people are bullish about Sydney yet in the same post highlight exactly why some people are bullish about Sydney.
Young team that made a grand final 18 months ago. Very well coached, and whilst they regressed slightly in 2023 they nearly caused an upset by knocking out the eventual preliminary finalists in an elimination final at the MCG.
And on the back of that they've had a very handy off-season through which they've managed to fill a number of important on-field holes without giving up much of value to do so.
You may not rate them but I think it's pretty obvious why they're getting the love they seem to be getting.

Fair enough.
Two sides to that coin and one is ok they lost narrowly to Carlton who did well as I mentioned. But you can't always just go on results from finals the year before. Or because that team played this team who beat that team etc. I was looking at it from others point of view, and trying not to be biased or unfair.
Personally I disagree and I believe they shouldn't have even been in the 8 to begin with. The Adelaide game, The Crows were robbed. And if we're going from one season to the next well look at Geelong last year. I don't rate the Swans like I do the other sides. You do make a good point about some new additions. But time will tell if they can stay on the park.
I don't have them in the 8. Their style doesn't convince me.

I'm not just going on results though. That was simply used to demonstrate they weren't that far off it last year.
They're a very well coached side and a very well run club.
Sure, they were very lucky there.
Reality is though there are thousands of relatively similar moments through a season that can go one way or the other and that directly influence results.
We just point to the Adelaide incident because it was particularly glaring.
It's interesting - their style is what keeps them around the mark, and what convinces me they won't be too far away again in 2024.
Why the hell not!
