We took out the September add on / donation when it was first introduced and have maintained it ever since; perhaps around 2012 or so and it literally was a donation and that also in addition to being Foundation Members and members of Bears prior to that and that disappointingly counts for nought.
Thats for you to decide.
If you want to pay the money for September membership knowing you won't be able to use it that's your decision.
The club would like the money during the down years and good years, but they are not twisting anyone's arm.
I did not wish to donate to the club during the bad years and that was my decision. Don't regret it one bit.
When we became relevant again i paid up but no success until 2023. That's the gamble you take.
But since we became relevant i have stayed.
The logical reason was we were in a premiership window and with growing membership i did not want to miss the opportunity while i am still able to go.

More tickets allocated by the AFL this year if I'm not mistaken? Last year there were some P3's who got tickets from memory as well.
True, mate of mine got standing with a P3 last year.

If members have paid their September membership they will get a GF ticket, should we make the GF
The club would only sell enough September memberships that they know will be allocated to them.
The AFL allocated extra seats to competing teams this year. That was only in August 2024.
Each competing team will now get 17,500.
I believe it is an extra 1000 on last year and the reason the Lions reopened their September membership when it was previously sold out.
Correct - however the point being made was in response to FFB1's post concerning the likelihood of P2's getting tickets in the ballot. These are people who do not have a September membership.

Ah yes right you are.

Apologies wasn't trying to talk down sharing if people want to do it!

I don't know any other risk re personal information.

Does anyone know about policing of adult vs concession ticket? We have a bit of an adult to concession ticket ratio issue. They didn't seem to be checking last year but maybe there is some light going off we can't see
You would have to be unlucky to get pulled up.
Even if you were just say that person was sick and we weren't going to waste the ticket

Every P2 member who entered the ballot last year got one?

There are 4 of us who go to games - 2 of us are P1, the other are P2 (the other 2 idiots upgraded to VIC+ this year and relinquished their September membership thinking VIC+ automatically meant P1. I’ve got sharper blunt Stanley knife blades in the shed).

Faced with the dilemma of just going our separate ways for ballot registration, or us two P1s just register for P2 so we can sit together if we happen to win (which I think we can, but think we won’t). If all P2s last year got one it would make the decision somewhat easier but it’s all in/all out and there’s certainly the FOMO aspect.

If it was me i would register the 2 with September membership together. After all they both spent $100 extra.
The other two register at their time according to the clubs email.
You can always meet up if they get tickets and do all the usual stuff together. Fly down and accommodation together.
You just won't be sitting together should they get tickets

Decide what; I'm confused by your post and your point and talk about gambling.

I am not criticizing the club and when we first took out the September membership always knew it was a donation, just like we regularly donate money to the club for various causes / players.

All I said was that its a shame you can't choose what bay you sit in and pointing out that its disappointing that members with longevity or took out these September things first, don't get any benefit over those that are just getting in when things are going good and a fair chunk will be nowhere to be seen when we are in the bottom six in 20-30 years or so.;)

Grand final is the least stressful finals ticket purchase period.

For the four of us it will cost $5k with flights, tickets and accommodation.

Just bloody win a gf. Once I've been to one I'm happy to go to watch parties in Brisbane. At least for one year.

Yep, been a September (donation) member since it came in after our 3 GFs in a row. Seems a waste to pay up for all that time to run the gauntlet with 2 x P2s.

We’re all VIC members BTW, old Fitzroy 😊

Will never see me there but you could take the family to Bali for a week and watch at a bar for cheaper. Like last year if anyone has P1 barcodes they are happy with sharing cos they don’t play on making it down if we make the GF I’m more then happy using them for the ballot, in exchange for a couple for any finals up there. Above board and legit, unlike various Facebook groups 🤔🙄

;)

All the above is all well and good, but its not like you really get to choose - well it didn't for me last year. At the time I was aggrieved being a foundation member and all and and end up getting Priority 2 or 3 tickets, but in the end, wound up with pretty decent seats, but I certainly didn't get a chance to choose what I wanted.

I think it is pretty clear you feel you should get a better deal because of your long standing relationship with the club
I am a Platinum member and don't really expect any special treatment
From 3 of your posts.

Regarding Gambling i said it was a gamble taking out September membership and it is. Your confusion is just yours.

Any questions on the registration process that i or others may be able to help with?

Seems a small price to pay so as not to have to put up with a Melbourne winter!! 🥶🤧🌧️

Hi all, I'm pretty desperate to get my hands on a grand final ballot barcode of any Brissy member not planning to travel down to Melb for the Grand Final so that I can enter it tomorrow in the ballot. I would take any priority barcode even P3 - if you would be kind enough to help me out. Would love to be there decked out to watch the game. Please let me know. Ideally two barcodes, but even 1 would be amazing. Anyways I figure this forum is a better forum than any other to try my luck so I set up an account to post this. Not sure if the facebook ones are especially trustworthy.

Let us know :)

Club email has come out but no additional information from the earlier one.

The last 3/4 years the club recommended selecting (5) over (6) but nothing mentioned this year.
5. I will accept the next best available ticket – including Standing Room
6. I will accept the next best available reserved seat – no Standing Room

I just rang the club.
They still recommend selecting this choice (5) as it gives you the best chance of getting a ticket.
He could not tell me why it was not mentioned this year
Also mentioned they have little to no control over how tickets are distributed which we pretty much knew.

EDIT 1:
I have taken out 3 paragraphs in this space after finding out more information. Some may have read them

EDIT: I found where it is mentioned.

Below image appears when you click on "register Here' on the club email

EDIT 2

Found this under "important event information" located on the left of screen.

Last year I chose no standing room and still ended up with excellent seats alongside other friends who chose the standing room option.
Years of contact sport and physical work dont allow the luxury of standing in one spot for any length of time unfortunately .
Think if you are P1 you are an excellent chance for decent seats.
Also see Virgin fares already $1000 return for weekend..
Great thread Section 5. Very comprehensive.

The seats are still random which is confirmed with you sitting near friends that chose the other option.
My concern is the wording in EDIT 2. "to retain (P1) access to the Grand Final ticket" EDIT: see post 42

It is like you could possibly lose your (P1) access if you choose "no standing"
Weather that is possible or not i don't know.
Only Ticketek could tell you and they did put it up on their link to register.
.............................................................
Last year i was (P1- Sep. Member). Allocated (P2) tickets which is always a possibility so no beef about that.
Ended up lower level very back row just outside the 50-meter arc. Could not see either big screen.
Could only see 3/4 of goal posts at my end. Only way to know if a goal was scored most times was by the crowd reaction in front of us.
Had Pies supporters behind in the standing room seats. Surprisingly they were pretty good during the game.
Fantastic atmosphere and i did end up with Mal Michael sitting beside me. Still a great day except for the result.
However, i would have preferred a better seat seeing it was my first time in Melbourne.

My daughter just dropped in for a visit
She says i am taking the wording "to retain (P1) access" to literally.

She believes people should just ask themselves what's best for them taking into consideration Priority & September member status. She is smarter than me so i will take her advice.

Her take is if all reserved tickets are exhausted before your random tickets are chosen, are you prepared to accept "standing room" tickets.
Are you happy to outlay quite a few $dollars, fly down, stay for a few days and required to stand.
If the answer is yes, then choose (5).
If the answer is no, then choose (6)

Also, if you are elderly or have minor mobility problems and require a seat, choose (6)
Or look at the "Accessible Seating Information" if you have a bit more of a disability

Either way if you have P1/P2/September membership i think you will get a seat should we make the GF.
I think but not 100% sure that P3 or certainly some were even okay last year.

Yeah no chance in hell a P1 GF gets allocated a standing option.

True, mate of mine got standing with a P3 last year.
Hi ZoBlitz - I can't start a conversation with you yet due to lack of posts but wanted to ask how/where I can advertise tickets to the PF? I have 3 × GF and PF packages for people that can't attend and am looking to sell them at the price I paid.

Interested. Kindly tell me more about the GF ones

On ticket prices this year i noticed a change. There are an extra two categories this year.
The AFL froze the $185 and under prices. The remainder increased 10% as per there press release.
What was not mentioned was it appears to me there's a different scaling according to these 2024 prices below.

I noticed the seats i had last year, Level 1 back row, was classed as P2 and i paid those P2 prices.
Not great seats in my opinion as i mentioned in post 41.

It looks to me that these same seats have been upgraded to the top price category being Level 1.
I got 1 adult & 1 concession total $808 add 10% increase = $889. The new price is $912.
It is only a 2.6% increase or $23 more for 2 tickets. So, in the whole scheme of things not much extra.
However, i wonder how many other seats have been reclassified.

Anyone else that got P2 last year and remember where they sat. Have those seats increased also.

How much are tickets to the 2024 AFL Grand Final?
