Hi all. The last act of the year, as it is every year, is to vote for the GWS Board's "Poster of the Year". The winner receives a badge for their profile, but otherwise it's just recognition of contributing strongly to the health of the board.

In my view, we've had plenty of great input throughout the whole year from a range of posters. I don't want to single anyone out at this point, as I think they have been several who have value-added a lot, and there have been so many of you who have chipped in with great observations to keep conversations going.

Timeline

I seek GWS Board posters to nominate another poster (no, you can't nominate yourself! ) in this thread; someone whom they believe has been a really good poster across this year. That could be based on their depth of knowledge, deep insight though lesser number of posts, lots of posts though more pithy in nature, adding humour to the board - really, whatever it is that you enjoy reading in the forum.

I'll allow today until 2359 on Tuesday for nominations, and then put up a poll to vote for your favourite, from Wednesday until next Sunday night. SO we'll have a winner before Christmas.

Thanks to everyone

However, irrespective of nominations/votes, I would like to thank each and every poster who has contributed to this board during the year. We've had a lot of contributions, in very good humour, few heated arguments and generally a great standard of commentary (in my opinion). There are a lot of passionate supporters out there, and though we might be small in number, I think we have a pretty good understanding across many aspects of the game. So, thank you all.

I will break the rules again this year to add a few more nominations:

Giant Pete - still one of my favourite posters who knows our strengths/weaknesses and a great game style understanding.
PMBangers - draft and list analysis master and holds unique knowledge in this area.
MelbourneGWS - can be likened as our team puppy dog who views everything with overwhelming positivity and devoted fandom.

Note - Giant Strides would win every year with his consistent moderation, intelligent posting and ability in herding a bunch of orange cats.

OK, I'm back up and working this morning. I've extended the voting deadline until mid-morning Christmas Eve.

Your choices as per the poll (in alphabetical order):
  • Colonial - as passionate a Western Sydney supporter as we could get
  • Giant Pete - a knowledgeable supporter who analyses our game style
  • Melbourne GWs - an overwhelmingly positive supporter
  • Orange Crush - also passionate in their posting, but has a little more "give" on some aspects
  • PM Bangers - our local draft and list guru, to whom we are thankful each year for his insights
That's it, over to you. Please vote and reward these posters for their contributions during 2024. Only 1 vote per voter. (Unless you have multiple accounts - you know who you are!)
