Was always getting surgery end of year. It’s an injury he could’ve played through with some steroid injections if he could tolerate it

Big Sean needs to remake himself as a bit more of a greyhound and a bit less of a mastiff to reduce the load on his knees. Otherwise his career as a big dog will last about as long as one of those really big dogs 😢

I think he said something along the lines that he may need surgery, and will have another scan and check with the doctors.

He also said Treacy is fine, and would have played first week of finals.

This sort of thing is pretty normal. The amount of players going in for minor surgeries would be higher than we think on here.

Every off season there's players in the rehab group we didn't know were injured until pre season started. They're just the guys that don't fully recover in 6-8 weeks too.

Just a dead leg hey JL.

FMD
Look he lies enough after the scans, but there's not much else he can say post game. If a player plays out a game then you trust that the medicos deemed the injury not serious enough.

The same calf soreness that could be from the gym could also end up being a stress fracture that takes 8 weeks to heal.

How is he supposed to diagnose that post-game? On top of not actually being a doctor and just relaying what he's been told by medicos.
If it was that simple the law of averages would dictate some of the predictions would overstate the severity of the injuries, meaning players would be coming back a lot earlier than he thought.

It seems like one way traffic at the minute.

My post was tongue in cheek regarding Young, but he's absolutely being lying through his teeth to us about injuries lately.

I’ve seen guys go down in screaming heaps and it was just a cork, and people play a game out a little sore and it was a fracture. Even as a medic, it’s hard to tell

Fremantle ruckman Sean Darcy will next week undergo an arthroscope on his left knee in a move to aid his preparation for season 2025.

Darcy missed the last three games of the season after injuring his knee against Essendon at the MCG in Round 21.

“Sean consulted a surgical specialist yesterday and we have decided an arthroscope is the best course of action going forward for the long-term health of Sean’s knee” said Executive General Manager of Football Joe Brierty.

“Having the procedure done now will enable Sean to have the best possible preparation and set him up for season 2025.

“At this stage, it is planned that Sean will be returning to running in six to eight weeks.”

Midfielder Hayden Young won’t require surgery after fracturing his fibula in Sunday’s loss to Port Adelaide.

“Hayden sustained an undisplaced fracture in his fibula late in the game against Port Adelaide,” said Brierty.

“The injury will heal without any surgical intervention, but he will require a non-loading period off legs.

“Hayden will resume his off-season program over the break and it shouldn’t cause any disruption to his pre-season.”

Young is coming off an outstanding season 2024 where he played every game and was named in the 44-man All Australia squad after moving from half-back to the midfield on a permanent basis.
