Jackson has taken one grabbers floating back in defense

Reckon this building him up will help him take em forward too, stronger against the defenders
I agree. I think it is a combination of body positioning and technique. He definitely double grabs and has flat hands - so technique needs to be adjusted. There are also times where stronger and better positioning will indeed help. Where a stronger body will help not being off balance etc when trying to mark.

I dunno, I have never thought that body work or getting pushed off has been an issue for Jackson. It's a worry to ask a big man to add more weight, run the risk of soft tissue or back issues. Back the club in but I hope he doesn't over do it.

Mundy mention tonight that Odin Jones was at a friend's house when the spinal injury from falling occurred which in some ways is a bit of a relief to hear. I had visions of him doing it at home and not being able to move until someone found him or maybe making an emergency call if he had a phone in his pocket. Hearing Joe Brierty talking about the process and the time length recovery before this recent LTI news, he gave the impression that there was a serious chance of a permanent spinal cord damage with the doctors having to get his back stable in a brace. Hope in time the young man gets back to chasing his AFL dream.

Gee I’d like an update on Odin Jones. It feels ominous that there’s not been an interview or whatever
I mean it's pre season and a player who is depth of depth. Not very ominous in that sense. But they've already said he's out for the season with a broken back I don't think much more needs to be said at this point.

Don't think Minz is referring to list management. Wondering how a young man is going.

Yeah, I mean you don't often hear injury updates for players in the presason unless it is a very key player to the team. That there's been no further update shouldn't be taken as ominous taking into account everything else.

Having Walters and Fyfe at their best later in the year is perfect.

Begin the season with some youth (Erasmus and Simpson?) is also perfect.
Really keen to see if Erasmus can take that next step. There's a player in there, but as a top 10 pick, he's been a bit underwhelming to date. In his defense, he's had inconsistent stretches of selection that haven't done justice to whether he's got the capability. Too often he's one of the first out if he's under-performed, whereas Bailey (or sometimes others, not making Banfield the only 'scapegoat'...) played all but the last game (!). I can't see how the erratic nature of his development has helped with his confidence to date. But it's a new year, and with that, new opportunities beckon. I hope Neil can take that next step, because he has to if he wants a career at Freo. Hopefully if he gets picked, he can show why he was a top 10 pick in the first place.
