I don’t imagine we will replace 28 until next year. Think the same happened when roughy retired

Do you think there’s a chance Long will keep his VFL number (55 I think) and change next year?

I can’t imagine they will have him keep 55 it’s generally a vfl number. But there is no rule against it as Ben brown has 50?
We will see Tuesday or might get announced tomorrow

If they reassigned a number like 28 this year, and you had two players owning it, it’d play havoc with websites, data records, and more.
Won’t happen from a technical or practical point of view, let alone a respectful one.

I don't think anyone on this board thinks they'll re-assign it this year

For those among us who are into such 'nerdy' stuff, this shows the jumper numbers for every listed player at all of the clubs in 2024:

I think it's rather fascinating looking at which numbers aren't in use currently, and trying to work out if there's a good reason why some of them aren't being used. In our case there's just one, of course, with no. 42 not in circulation, but every other number up to 46 allotted for the 45 players on our list this year. Richmond aren't using several of the low/early numbers, and have gone over the 50 mark with their two recent draftees.
