Too late to move a team, it needs to be a merger (Won't happen) or a new team to get us to 20 now

Moving a team doesn't fix the massive Bye problem we are about to have

Would be Canberra but GWS’s deal with the ACT which is out to 2032 which leaves the AFL with an issue between 2028 and 2032 (five seasons).

An odd number of teams in a league that pretty much only plays games on the weekend is really going to suck not just for the fans but the AFL as well.

If WA3 were to happen then the Southern Sharks is the only option IMO. Another team in Perth just doesn't make sense

Margaret River/Busselton is a fast growing area and the airport services the east coast without needing to go through Perth. Stadium wouldn't have to be huge, think Geelong or Tasmania.

Would also be good to have another team which challenges Geelong in the farm life aspect.
I would prefer a Pilbara or Kimberley based team.

This means opposition teams would be forced to travel further more often.

Even a Bunbury team over Busselton area as Bunbury is harder to access from east coast.

When the AFL try to fukk us, we can fukk them back 😊

North Melbourne were on the way to the Goldie.
It was a very close thing until the board dug their heals in at the last minute.
AFL should have left them to flounder.
It was Norths decision to stay. Live with it.
You are correct. It was the Norths board of directors that stopped the move. They and there very few members. The AFL buckled down to them.
But not only did they cabe in, they have ever since been living on hand outs from the SFL
Hand out monetary wise and player wise.
The Roos have been a basket case since the end of thd Ansett years of buying players. Ansett kept them afloat. Now, it is the AFL that is doing it

Only franchise vlubs are Giants and Suns.
Victorian clubs are basically still VFL.
WA and SA clubs are certainly not francice clubs.
The AFL will never ever again try to relocate a failing/ failed VFL club..
They tried with NM,Roos , the club, even with a massive lure from the AFL the club and their supporters rebelled and the weak AFL folded.
Same applied to the Hawks Dees merger.
The VFL vlubs are sacrosant. Much more than the head in on field clashes. Or more like myself, becoming a Yella supporter.
The VFL clubs are safe.

All of the 18 clubs have licences granted from the AFL to compete in the league. None of them have a "right" to compete in the league that is seperate from the AFL granting them a licence to do so. Ie, they are all franchises of the league.

Of the 18 clubs, 16 hold their licence directly from the AFL. Only Freo and WCE have a different structure: the WAFC hold both WA licences. And then the WAFC let companies that they 100% own operate these licences.

One of the reasons that relocating a commercially unviable team like the Roos has often failed in the past is that the relocation options are really commercially viable either.

Relocating the Roos to Canberra, or Gold Coast or Hobart are not very compelling options because on terms of commercials like fan base and crowd size how is it an improvement over being the 10th club in Melbourne?

But being the 3rd club in Perth is a way better situation.

I reckon if North start selling 2 or 3 or 4 games a year in WA their average crowds at Optus will be bigger than their average crowds in Melbourne. Their average home attendance is under 22,000. If they can average more than that at Optus over a couple of years then the business case for relocation will be very strong.

Would be a way to slowly turn the screws down.
The numbers would become glaringly obvious and AFL will say get out of here. Earn your keep in WA..
