My playoff seeds

1. Oregon
2. Georgia
3. Arizona State
4. Boise State

5. Texas
6. Penn St
7. Notre Dame
8. Clemson
9. Ohio St
10. Tennessee
11. Indiana
12. SMU

Notre Dame i would of had over Penn St but they were ranked behind them entering the week. Can also see Clemson drop to 10 and Ohio St get the final home game

But i guess based on precedent Georgia is out completely since they lost their starting QB, so Clemson move to 4 and Army are at 12 ;)

Clemson, wow.

SMU should have gone for 2 when they got the TD.
OT was the right call. but just needed to play a bit tighter on D.

But it worked out for everyone, SMU stay in the 12 and Alabama out.

Why was OT the right call?

Think the odds is 60% if you go for 2, versus 50/50 in OT.
the drops and SMU's defense had been playing much better since the 1st Q.

SMU would of likely called another QB run and have it be a TFL if they went for 2. If the OL won more and the QB run calls were working all game sure, but with how the game played out wasnt worth the risk.

Now watch them leave SMU out.
If they do that. Blow up championship weekend.

and if they play hypotheticals/vegas odds is bullshit. because those scenarios Alabama wouldnt lose to Oklahoma or Vandy. but thats why we play the games. If you lose by 3 as time expires on a LONG FG you dont deserve to drop 4 spots. and Indiana dont deserve to be pushed out for Alabama when both teams were sitting at home today.

The old 4 team playoff punished the Big12 [and ND] early for no championship games, you cant punish teams for playing an extra game. You should be able to win your way in, but barring a 40 point blowout shouldnt be throw out for a loss.

What BS excuse will the CFP committee use to put Alabama in now.

"We have Bama in over Indiana/Ohio State/SMU/Notre Dame because IT JUST MEANS MORE".

The Mercers of the world are going to be busy next November because every top team will want to beat up on cupcakes rather than play and extra conference game to make the playoffs

QF games i would guess

Rose - Oregon
Fiesta - Arizona St/Boise
Peach - Georgia
Sugar - Boise/Arizona St

Im not sure how the rank Boise and ASU i feel Arizona St jump them into 3 but Boise stay over Clemson so would be Boise in the Sugar and Arizona St stay home for Fiesta.

the best team outside i think is South Carolina. but they have H2H losses to both Ole Miss and Alabama, but since those games have been a better team. but all 3 [and Miami] dont deserve to make it because of bad losses

Ill have the Bowl thread up later tonight.

Which will also be used for the FCS playoffs that are in the schedule, Army/Navy and Heisman since the bowl games also start next Sunday.

What a wild finish in the ACC. SMU have to sweat it out now gut feel is they miss out even though they deserve to be there.

My early thoughts on what the CFP committee will do:
  • Alabama will get a push up holding a win over the SEC champs (committee logic)
  • Clemson will be pushed ahead of SMU on the rankings (or move ahead via the conference champ), but not ahead of
  • Tex won't drop much as they would hold the 2 best losses
  • ND to edge ahead of PSU but that could be switched.
  1. Oregon
  2. Uga
  3. Tex
  4. ND
  5. PSU
  6. Ohio State
  7. Tennessee
  8. Indiana
  9. Boise state
  10. Alabama
  11. ASU
  12. Clemson
  13. SMU
Playoff brackets
1st round byes
Oregon
Uga
Boise
ASU

5/12 Clemson @ Tex
6/11 Alabama @ ND
7/10 PSU @ Indiana
8/9 Tenn @ OSU

Kinda funny that all those years people would shit on the Pac-12 because it was so even it cannibalized itself therefore they cant be that good. and now former Pac-12 teams win the Big12 and Big10.

Didn't FSU sue the ACC for hurting the standard of competition by bringing in SMU 🤣

They sued to try and get out of the GoR with just about everything they could think of.
It ended with them and Clemson getting some extra money i think. But ESPN have a decision to make in June or next June on if they want to pick up the next 10 years of the ACC rights since it was a 20 year deal with an option for ESPN to decline or renegotiate after the first 10.

I honestly think Ole Miss's argument over Alabama was a good one.

Alabama only on immediate history and reputation
Both Alabama and Ole Miss have no good arguments because they just needed to win. but both had a bad loss in the first half and a bad loss in November. You want to be in the playoffs then dont lose to Florida or get pumped by Oklahoma both are teams who are only bowling because of those games.

When they entered those games both teams were ranked 7 and 9 by the CFP. They win those games and Indiana and SMU are out. but you cant be a 3 loss team where 2 are horrible losses and sit at home championship weekend and say "we should be in"

South Carolina has the better argument. even with H2H losses to both Alabama and Ole Miss in October. since then unbeaten including wins over Mizzou and Clemson and a win over at the time top 10 A&M. Other loss was to LSU with LSU and Alabama both being under 3 points so bit of luck they swing the other way
