Nonsense mate.
After a regular Bears loss there are hundreds of Cheeseheads on every social I’m a member of gloating away even when they’ve lost themselves in games non relevant.
You’re probably unaware of the animosity because you don’t feel the hatred that exists back in the Midwest. It’s real.
Ive been to a bears/Packers game at soilder Field. But most packers fans are not that interested in the bears outside of bears weeks.
But I haven't been to a packers/bears game at Lambeau and haven't had a chance to go back to Lambeau in about 10 years.

Judging based on dickheads on social media is silly, every fan base is like that. I'm sure it happens with Vikings and Lions fans too from packers and bears fans. But those 2 teams are mostly irrelevant in the big picture.

I still feel most of the hate comes from the Chicago side outside of game weeks. I just don't feel like it's even a top 5 rivalry just because of how one sided it's been for over a generation.
It's not a saints/Falcons or 9ers/Raiders 9ers/Dallas, Eagles/Cowboys, Dallas/Success.

It's like the AFLs Collingwood/Carlton rivalry. If both teams are good it could once again fire up 50 weeks a year it's not the only thing on our mind.

The rivalry means more to the Bears fans because we have been so dominant the last 30 years. Not that Packers fans don't also feel it.

But if the Bears went 2-15 with the 2 wins over the Packers they would be happy, but if the Packers went 2-15 only beating the Bears it wouldn't be a success in the fans eyes.

But Packers fans are also friendly tailgating.

2 games I would never go to because of how violent the fans get are Falcons/Saints and 9ers/Raiders. Both those games have a chance to have more stabbings then points scored
They need to stop the 49ers / Raiders preseason games, they're just as bad with the crowd violence

I think that's why they keep them. Tickets sell so that's all that matters for the shield

Not bad if your by yourself. Car hire plus petrol and parking would cost a lot more than that.
Considering how much you have already paid for the ticket and accommodation in New Orleans yeah it's not so bad Considering the convenience

As someone who has been to a 49ers vs Raiders game at oakland coliseum i agree its dangerous saw more fights that day than rest of live US sport i have seen combined. Don't wear team colors or jerseys to these games just asking for trouble.

College football is usually all talk pro sports is when fists come out.

CFB is a lot of drunk frat kids who always get quiet when challenged for talking shit.
But most is banter rather then worth getting into a fight over.

Dr pepper have had a campaign built on it for years with fansville

I'd throw in Raiders v Chargers too when the Bolts were still in San Diego - pure hate. Didn't help that most Raider fans were also Dodger fans with the levels of hate between the Padres and Dodgers.

Every time I see this I agree. But starting to falter because of CFB killing itself over greed and regions and rivalries now a thing of then past for more teams.

I used to prefer NCAA football over the NFL, but not anymore - with the demise of the Pac-12, expansion of the playoffs so all the top SEC and Big10 teams can make it and diluting the importance of the "regular season", and the players getting paid, it is basically NFL lite now.

expanded playoffs and players getting paid are the least of my issues with the sport. but the other stuff i agree with.

God I loved this play. It's one of those things where a kid watches football and says "why doesn't he just drill it at the guy" and you say "that's really dumb"... but the more you think about it, you wonder why it wouldn't work.

And bugger me, it does!

They are different things

Yeah. but the highs of college games are unmatched. also NFL teams couldnt coordinate things like checkered sections or blackout/whiteout without putting a shirt on every chair like the NBA.

College passion is unmatched.

CFP v NFL?

A few years ago it was the golden age of CFP. Last few seasons have been blurgh - probably linked with the downgraded coverage we get on ESPN..

CFP is right up there for zany plays, missed FG, going for it on 4th down, enormous come backs, storied history, narratives, strange player names... The list goes on. How could you not live it?

Im not sure I agree with the method.

But if I were head coach, if I got a 15 yard penalty like this putting me at the 50, I'd be doing an onside kick every single time.

It's 15 yards difference between the touchback and where they'd get it if they recover. Such low risk to gain an extra possession.

I think I preffered the BCS era. Having your 1 vs 2 meant you crowned a champ, and it didn't allow a school to recruit 'come here, be the best in the conference, get into playoff all the time' as the odds of making the BCS were rarer.

BCS - 16 years - Alabama, Auburn, Florida, Florida State, LSU, Miami (Fl), Nebraska, Notre Dame, Ohio State, Oklahoma, Oregon, Tennessee, Texas, USC, Virginia Tech. 15 schools taking 32 spots. And 11 different champions out of 16 opportunities

CFP - 10 years Alabama, Cincinnati, Clemson, Florida State, Georgia, LSU, Michigan, Michigan State, Notre Dame, Ohio State, Oklahoma, Oregon, TCU, Texas, Washington. 15 schools taking 40 spots and 6 different champions out of 10 opportunities.

It became more predictable as schools like Alabama, Clemson, Georgia, Michigan, Ohio State could sell their schools better to get prospects to join them which hogged the skill players.

But by expanding the playoffs even more, now schools like say Iowa State can go 'we've got a strong team, and the Big XII Champion is in the playoff, so come here and be in the battle for the starting QB role straight away, rather than going to Ohio State and having to fight your way up'

I feel it'll lead to more seasons like Washington 2023, TCU 2022 etc. where a school can piece it together and give it a run, as the talent is there.

Sure, NIL and the transfer portal will still be advantageous to schools like Alabama, Ohio State, Georgia etc. But I do feel it'll be a whole lot more difficult for them to horde talent as they've been able to you in recent years.

And has the expanded taken anything away from the season? I for one am enjoying more football this year than in years! I've even gone back to watching some neutral football, as the talent is spread a little thinner now imo. And I believe we'll see more parity in the coming years as medium sized schools can recruit better as they can offer more playing time and still have the potential reward.

Just thinking of someone like Ryder Lyons, If he was 5 years younger, he probably joins the Pac-12 at USC or something, however, now he might like the opportunity of more playing time and the same odds of a playoff at Boise State or Washington State. Sure, the NIL opportunity is stronger at USC, but will you see it before your junior season? Who knows.

I wonder if that's why the SEC and BigTen are pushing for greater access to the CFP. Alabama/Georgia/Ohio State/Michigan saw the advantages in recruiting in the old CFP setup. Getting 3/4 from each conference in might mean that the CFP can lockout the other conferences and weaken their recruiting and they can still horde talent. Is this them realising, ah ****, we're going to lose value in our tv product as other conferences get stronger and increase their pot, reducing ours. And they're trying to stop the wave of change before it starts.
