Think the lions got a good run defence but their secondary is suspect
Yep, thats why I said they sucks was too harsh in my original post. That secondary is straight garbage but run defense is very solid. Still concerned about them vs quality teams if they cant get pressure on the QB with Hutch now out for the season.

Their defense still sucks imo.

Sucks is probably too strong, they certainly arent the Panthers, Bucs or Ravens... Below average is probably more accurate.

Hmm

Hard to say
DVOA has them top 5, which seems high

Having said that, I would rely on them surviving on D more than KC being so reliant on their D. Teams will figure them out eventually.

It's going to be fascinating to see how they play at the pointy end of the season. Will teams work them out or will they crush teams with their high powered offense?

My concern with Daniels was always that he can panic a bit when the pocket collapsed and run and fight for extra yds leading to him taking some huge hits. Which he has cleaned up so far.

I dont think Love would be as good if he was thrown in as a rookie to play, and Mahomes was lucky enough to sit a year behind Smith on a team that was already good with a top 10 OL. Even sitting that one year helps gives them 60/70% of practice reps. they might even run some scout team on Wednesdays to get used to calling NFL plays and reading NFL defenses. While Alex Smith was never the best QB he knew what he was doing and was willing to teach and help Mahomes break down film.

First round picks you are risking too much putting them out early with the failure rate, ease them in and while the fans might not like it, if you can fix some issues and build on the strengths you get the player you drafted. Its not a secret why some teams are taking QB's top 10 every 4 years and starting them in the first month or so, part bad coaching part not giving them time and hard to play catch up as a QB when you were not ready to start.
The other part is teams picking top 10 are generally much more than a QB away from competing, often they are being thrown behind a terrible o-line with not much of a run game or receivers that get open/make plays. A recipe for failure.

A comparison is Purdy versus Bryce Young

How do you think Purdy would have gone at Carolina ?

How would Young have gone in Purdy's place as back up at the 49er's ?

Would the difference in coaching and the skill level of the surrounding players especially the OL, tight ends etc have given Young a chance to develop in the way Purdy has ?

Darnold is a good example of bad experience, then learning, then the right situation. He's only getting his shot through injury - but has shown how capable he is in the right environment.

Look at Tributski. Ok then horrible at the Bears, redemption as a backup at Bills. 2 years at the Steelers and can't keep the job, now back to the Bills.

The way things are going Bryce will be on the 49ers next year as a backup.

How are the Jets favoured against Houston???? Yeah Diggs and Collins out but on the other hand, it's the Jets.
Theres a theory that TNF favours the home team on the short week..... but apparently the overall record is 54-54, so it's a push. I wouldn't bet good money on bad teams

Carolina is also eating most of the remaining salary - $3.2m vs the Ravens only paying him $625k

Nothing is worse than being a Jets fan

Saw this on Facebook and I chuckled

Joe Flacco should donate his body to science when he retires. He needs to be studied
It's funny, Flacco has done really well at the Browns and Colts but when he was at the Jets for a minute he was terrible! I'm sure the Jets organisation will learn nothing from that piece of information.

Outside of one elite playoff series at Baltimore, I always thought he was average to slightly above average. Last couple of seasons has been bizarre

Too many bad QBs atm, so average is now good.

Thats what he is. Its just that its a league that only ever has a few real good QB's.

Its also why some of the average or slightly below QB's who just have 1 better year get 50M+ contracts. because teams look at it and see its good enough to win with if they have stuff to work with and feel if they dont pay him someone else will and end up with someone like a Drew Lock.

Minshew is starting to get the same Falcco/Fitzmagic trajectory. its how Carr or Dak get that money. and a few good weeks in a contract year is how Daniel Jones got paid.
