Taken by a friend from jr.high, one of the places I learned to ski at. God I miss skiing. Moving to a tropical island 30 some years ago and it is THE one thing I miss the most. Used to work 4 x 10 hr days just so I go up on Fridays and have the slopes nearly to myself or with my mates. As for skiing style? Think Franz Klammer 76; long skis, speed, and on the edge :)

Had a fun trip home from the office today.

Finished work at 5pm. When I got to the station, there were two trains going to Geelong on the same platform - the 5.26pm to Waurn Ponds and the 5.29pm to South Geelong. For some reason, both trains only had 3 carriages (why they didn't just combine the two and have one 6 carriage train I'll never know, but I digress).

Everyone was piling into the Waurn Ponds train so I thought "Stuff it, I'll wait 3 minutes and get on the South Geelong train so I could pretty much be guaranteed a seat". Several other people had the same idea so we were waiting around to board the 2nd train. Just when the Waurn Ponds train was departing, an announcement came over the PA that the South Geelong train had been cancelled, and that the next train to Geelong was departing from Platform 15.

Hoof it from Platform 3 to Platform 15, and there was a s**tload of people on the platform already as the 5.35pm Wyndham Vale train hadn't yet arrived. Was waiting for about 5 minutes when they announced the next train to Waurn Ponds would be taking passengers at 15A, while the Wyndham Vale train rocked up at 15B at the same time. When the Waurn Ponds train arrived, the PA announced that we couldn't board yet, but everyone just piled onto the train anyway. Then the announcers had to announce the Waurn Ponds train wasn't stopping at Wyndham Vale so folks going to that station had to get off the Waurn Ponds train and hop on the correct one.

Then after all that, the Waurn Ponds train had to crawl along between Southern Cross and Wyndham Vale due to the train in front of it. What a shambles.

And I know I probably shouldn't laugh & trust me, I feel your pain but I'm glad it's not me

and it wasn't even a holiday lol

I had to commute for a short while across the lake to Seattle. It wasn't too bad if there was a jam, it was a floating bridge, so you were pretty much on the water watching the sailboats while you were sitting. :)

My only public transport commute was for another short time stint, but outside London. Took a bus from the village where the house was, to Chelmsford to catch the train in, transferred to a different train at Ilford, then another bus to Barking; every day. It was funny though, I just imagined myself being inside the Brit Com skit with all the stereotypes around me. :laughv1:

Fellow Cats supporters.....I'm doing a series of episodes for my podcast featuring guests talking about their "most memorable game". I've recorded a few episodes (from other club's supporters), and just released the episode where I talk about the game I will never forget. It is the game that convinced me to become a Cats supporter. Here's a link if you're interested. #216 - A Yank on the Footy - MY most memorable game
If you've got a game that you'll never forget (might not even be a Grand Final victory), I'd love to chat with you about it for an upcoming episode.

Cheers!

Hiya fellow board posters,

If you're like me and don't or rarely venture far from the great Geelong BF board, you may not be aware of threads & discussions that happen elsewhere on BF

One such thread is that which is tailored to those who look at the darker side or you may say are a little on the macabre side, with the annual 'BigFooty Death List' competition'

Full rules are on the first post of the thread, but essentially it's about naming 20 famous people who you question if they'll makes it to 2024

If anyone's interested in knowing more or joining the comp, check it out at - BigFooty Death List 2023 : Host - ClarkeM
