To add to the ban on Damien Barrett BS, I'm tempted to request throwing Josh Jenkins in there too. The guy is a ****ing moron. Epitome of the Dumb Footballer stereotype.

I dont blame him. From someone who has seen him on the track i agree. The guy is deadset freakshow. It isnt just his IQ but also his ability to execute. I cant wait to see him at the G
How is he going in the match play?
Collo mentioned got better of Impey and scrim - but neither (esp scrim) elite small defenders. And whether that holds when intensity and physicality increases is interesting.

Shame Hardwick is forward - would love to hear about that match up with Watson as Hardwick knows all the tricks re angles, positioning, body work etc to deal with quick forwards.

Yep, I'm with you, mate.

I'll never forget his 2013 grand final preview where he failed to mention one team at all, and it wasn't Fremantle.

Position: 17th

Most excited to see (big improver or acquisition)

Will Day’s emergence… but where… and will he be established in a single role?

54 games in, four seasons in… enters season five at around 85kg and with AFL-level endurance to be a devastating running midfielder who can go where the game needs him.

Too often we saw him on the last line protecting against momentum… keep him on or around the ball all season.

Sure thing (something you can take to the bank)

Ned Reeves and Lloyd Meek continue to mix and match the No. 1 ruck role, with neither really establishing themselves as the one.

Maybe it’s Reeves… maybe.

Hope and worry (one thing to makes you hopeful and one that’ll make you worry)

Hope: We hope someone can settle down beside Mitch Lewis as a genuine No.2 key forward.

Worry: The worry for me is that person is not currently on the Hawks list… we’ve seen Mabior Chol and we know Jack Gunston is at the end of the road.

Need to see much, much more from Denver Grainger-Barras before we give him the nod.

Xs and Os (coaching/game plan adjustment)

Keep Day stationed in a single role. Luke Hodge and Shaun Burgoyne were deployed where needed and Day has that capability but those two did that more often once they were fully established as A-grade players.

Reeves didn't establish himself as the #1 ruck?

Here's the thing. I don't expect journalists / commentators to watch many of our games. It's very difficult to consume that much footy even if it's your job, I don't expect them to watch many games besides the marquee ones. That said, if you're going to comment on clubs you really need to either make an effort to watch the games or at least familiarise yourself with the players and their records in that year because - besides one or two games, and not at the end of the season - Reeves was obviously our preferred #1 ruck.

This is completely leaving aside the fact that the rest of it is the least insightful commentary I've seen in years.

Andy C sounds like he loves footy more than anything in the world. Even though he talked every single player up like they're gonna be generational talent - it was awesome to listen to

Such a positive review by Andy, plus great vision.

I’m going to upgrade my membership to Kennedy Club next year as I’ll be wanting GF tickets pretty soon :)

So .... don't move Day around and get him settled...... although Day has the ability and playing style of Hodge and Burgoyne who did the utility role really well..... , as Day won't be able to yet....... even though he is going to get better and get each year.

That might be the best piece of insight ever.

Dimma did go back on watson to keep him quiet however this was without Breust and few others that were rested. First qtr was almost our round 1

To this day I’ve maintained that we should have gone for Curtin over Watson.

Damn I hope he proves me wrong…

They've played zero games of football since being drafted.

One (not Watson) has a knee complaint at the moment as well.

Just strange to say 'to this day' because their footy careers haven't even been one day long yet.

I mean from draft day to now, based on our needs as a footy club, and based on the information at hand (you know, the premise on which the entire concept of a ‘draft’ is based). Not rocket surgery.

Yeah, if your job is journalism, you need to do the research ie. Watching the games and players you are commenting on. It would be expected of any non-player in the biz, at least those that don’t haven’t started resting on their laurels. Look at Nat Edwards, she is on top of everything, draft, trading, player management… Constantly making her lazy counterparts look awful.

Plus we moved him around all of last season. Maybe he only watched the 3 or 4 games he did move around which was usually only in the 2nd half when we were getting smashed. Would also explain his 17th prediction

Any track watchers share how Blanck is going thus far this preseason? Looks to have put on some size from some of the photos the club has put out but keen to know if he's looking a lock as our KPD or if he's got work to do?
